  • Why does Bronco have to be a dick sometimes?

For those who are FB friends with David Locke and/or Dave Fox, you've probably already seen this:

That isn't being a dick. That is funny and the dude should probably shut his pie hole.

Why do any of us? However, to have to constantly be told how to do your job, by those you perceive to know significantly less than you do about it, has to get old real quick. Poor form by anyone to correct a speaker in a public forum.

I don't know, his "Anything else that anyone knows that I don't know?" comes across as pretty snarky to me.

It is just his personality. I am OK with it, but I think he is one of those people who does not value someone elses opinion if offered without him asking for it. I know he didn't appreciate the fans opinion when he didn't go for it on 4th down early in his career.

I think that is why he is such a good fit for BYU. A little disdain for the common folks is good.

Who was the person that told him 300 lbs?

I think Bronco took a shot, but I don't think he was being a dick. I think he was just being playful.

That was pretty damn funny and there's nothing wrong with what Bronco said nor how he said it.

I watched that clip and couldn't figure out if he was being legitimately funny or completely snarky. He was kind of on the line between both.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Someone on TBS claimed it was Ryker's step father.

Agreed. How better would you have liked Bronco to handle it? Horrible form by the fan talking back during the presentation and correcting the coach. He did it with a smile, and the guy probably learned his lesson.

That seems unlikely, given the context of clip. I don't see why Bronco would doubt Ryker's step father, but he clearly doubted whether the person who spoke really knew anything about it.

I've listened to Bronco try and be funny in the past and it comes off the same way, I think it is just his awkwardness in public speaking showing most of the time.

Honestly, as a person, I can't stand Bronco. He does this crap every time he speaks or does a media interview. I'm sure he doesn't care what I think. He's rich even by Viking standards, he has a job I'd do for free, he's older than me but looks younger and is in better shape. My wife's better looking, though.

PS as a coach I really like him, and i guess that's all that really matters. It's nice to love your sports heroes and think they share those feelings, but in Bronco's case it's just not his way.

Bronco is a type A personality. He was publicly challenged, as was his credibility (over something very petty and trivial....wtf difference does it make if he weighs 300 lbs and not 275?) so he fired back on the offensive. You could tell he was bothered when he made the shot at the entire audience ("I know some of you THINK you know more than me....").

Pretty normal behavior for Type As....plainly stated, a coach isnt used to taking guff and doesnt abide a foul tongue.

I dont think his comment was out of place or offensive in any way.

If I were Bronco and some interviewer corrected me like that, I would have said, "300 lbs? Oh, you mean like your WIFE????" I bet everyone would laugh and then the ice would be broken.
                            Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

You gotta be kidding me. There is nothing dickish about this. It was very funny.
"Don't expect I'll see you 'till after the race"

"So where does the power come from to see the race to its end...from within"
