Man, I forgot about Jacobsen dropping that punt in the first quarter. That pissed me off.

So let me get this straight. All BYU home games will be on national TV AND they will be available for streaming at any time on BYUtv.org both on the computer and over my iPhone/smartphone and any away games on ESPN will also be available in this format as well? Does anyone else in football have this kind of setup? May BYU Broadcasting and ESPN be praised into the eternities!

And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Its kind of funny as that is what the freaking mtn promised.

Harmon wrote about this and how this was the main concession BYU wanted. BYU just wanted control of its own product. Personally I think if it were up to Thompson he would have granted it. He's not dumb. He's just inept. Comcast told BYU no. Which leads me to believe that Comcast wanted to wash its hands of the mtn anyway, and this is their way to do just that. Contrast that with ESPN who is giving BYU has access to everything.

One thing that stood out on BYU's independence day is the contrast between Comcast, owner of the mtn network that services the MWC and ESPN, which will partner with the Cougars for the next eight years in 2011.

MWC commissioner Craig Thompson made an appearance on a Dallas radio station Tuesday and was asked by the host what concessions BYU asked of the MWC broadcast partners and the contract.

Thompson said BYU requested the rights to rebroadcast BYU sporting events. The request was denied.

On BYU-TV's True Blue show, hosted by Dave McCann on Tuesday, ESPN vice president of broadcasting told McCann that in BYU's upcoming partnership BYU-TV could rebroadcast every ESPN game involving BYU basketball and football "as many times as your want."

In fact, said Brown, "You can have access to any BYU game in the inventory" and use those as many times as the station wants.

"We don't want to hold anyone back," said Brown.

              ....and failed to deliver.

I already watched part of the BYU/OU game on BYUtv.org so at least this time the promises are being delivered. The best thing about this deal is having the world's largest sports marketer behind us, but having our own broadcasting capability is also pretty cool.

I might be more giddy too than some others in Utah as I went two years without seeing more than one or two games a year and was relegated to listening to the games on ksl.com. Hopefully now I won't have to hear the same vericose vein commercial 50 times a game.

Wasn't the MWC also supposed to be the feature conference of CSTV (which became CBSCS)? I love turning on CBSCS on a Saturday to see Jackson State @ Louisiana Lafayette in HD, while MWC teams are playing on the Mtn.

Our original deal was with CSTV...we then got the bait and switch and settled for the .mtn.

That is my recollection as well. IIRC we were the first conference to sign with CSTV.

Wait. You're telling me that of all the games in the HISTORY of the program, the first one they post is a win against a team that finished 7-5 with a bid to the Sun Bowl?

It was a recent win and the only reason you went to the sun bowl was because of us! Get with it!

Actually, they have all sorts of past games up. Who knows which was the "first" posted. But I suspect you don't really care.

Can't wai to watch BYU Utah 2007, as I missed that game live.

We're telling you that this game is posted because it is of recent vintage and fully illustrates the media cross-over potential of the alliiance between an independent BYU and ESPN. That your beloved, but losing, Sooners were invovled is merely incidental. The sun does not rise and set in Norman.
