  • Stages of Grief

    1) Denial (this isn't happening to me!)
    2) Anger (why is this happening to me?)
    3) Bargaining (I promise I'll be a better person if...)
    4) Depression (I don't care anymore)
    5) Acceptance (I'm ready for whatever comes)

Where are you cougar fans? Seems like most of us are still on #2. I think I am going to skip #3. God obviously doesn't care about this one so it hardly seems worth the effort.

Then again, maybe this is all part of some divine plan...

#2 for sure. And I think maybe the Big 12 threads are evidence of #3 existing in some form.

I am on a rapid cycle of 2, 3, and 4, each lasting about ten minutes each. #3 is definitely thinking about our chances with the Big-12, but that is the one that is fleeting the quickest.

The thing I will probably have problems with is hanging out on CB looking for signs of love from the BIG 12. While doing that I will have to let posts not get under my skin. I have a character flaw and may not be able to constrain myself from expressing myself. If people want to vent, I guess they should have the right to do so.

Again though I am anxious to hear about us and the BIG12. It might lead up to another dissapointment, but who knows.

              I guess I'm at #4.

I may have mentioned this somewhere else, but for me it's like Kobe winning championships - I can't stand the fact that it's happening, so I will simply ignore the sport. If, come September 2011, BYU still isn't sniffing any BCS offers, I will likely give up college football, just as I have stopped watching or paying any attention to the NBA playoffs. The NBA might be my favorite sport and I've stopped the most important part of the season - cold turkey. I can do the same with NCAA football.

For now, I've moved on to baseball - a sport I love, the NBA draft - a great time of the year, and the World Cup - a sport I don't like very much, but it beats hearing about the utes good fortune and BYUs continued irrelevance.
              I'm like LeBron James.

I guess I'm still at #1 because I don't think all the dust has settled yet.

Actually isn't that 5, moving on. We might get the chance to go through the stages again, but right now let's hope the powers that be are moving along and in a positive way for BYU.

I feel like I'm still at #1 also. My denial is in the form of believing that BYU will get a Big 12 invite. I've definitely felt some waves of anger as well, but I'm doing my best to repress. I may be in #1 for a while still.

                            4. I expect to be in this stage for quite a long time.

I alternate between 1, 2, and 4. Right now I'm in 1. I still just can't believe Utah is in a BCS conference and BYU isn't.
