  • Lets just assume Utah to the Pac-10 is a done deal........

    So a few logistical questions.

How will the divisions be done? The most sense is obviously North/South

    North
    Washington
    Wazzou
    Oregon
    Oregon State
    Utah
    Colorado

    South
    USC
    UCLA
    Cal
    Stanford
    Arizona
    Arizona State

The problem with this is that every team wants to play USC every year because of the revenue generated as well as the recruiting area. Also Arizona and ASU were the last 2 in and they get a huge advantage in this scenario.

My guess is that they align the divisions this way but they rotate UCLA and USC each season, all of the northern teams is guaranteed at least 1 of them each year.

Or they could zipper the rivals. Which would be lame but possible. If Utah was in that North division this season with Oregon missing Masoli, I think they would finish 3rd behind Washington and Oregon State. The north is definitely the easier division historically.

Did they have this problem in the old big 12? Did all the north teams want to play Texas every year?

Yes they did. You sure did a good job of following college football. Do you not think its a huge advantage to play USC?

Sorry but telling your recruits "Yeah next season we go to Pullman, play UW at home, go to Corvallis, play the Ducks at home, and get Colorado at home during the conference season."

"USC no we do not play them, nope we miss UCLA too. But we do get to play ASU in Tempe!"

Sorry but that schedule does not sound so great without USC and UCLA on it.

This topic seems familar for some reason.

I think they will put USC and UCLA in different divisions. Will that solve it?

It would that is why I said the Zipper the rivals. But do you think USC and UCLA would have any part of different divisions?

Sorry I have not read all 40 threads and 5,000+ posts on the topic. Don't you have a new jazz logo to discuss somewhere else?

Yeah, it was all the way back on the second page of The Stadium, so I can see how you missed it. You were probably busy reading threads in The Foyer or The Water Cooler. Or posting a scan of your beer league softball scorecard.

Thank you board police. Anything else I should know about before I continue posting here?

Judas Priest our fanbase is going to have a really hard time with this. I might just take a DDD sabbatical of my own.

From what I read in a Denver Paper the divisions are

If that is indeed the case, The north would have Cal, Oregon and Washington as the powers. The South would have USC out front, with Arizona, ASU, UCLA and Utah ready to pounce. CU sucks. The south will be a dog fight. I could see Washington and Oregon becoming OU and Texas in the north division.

I find the idea of the AZ and SoCal schools playing late season games in Boulder and SLC at altitude intriguing.

They will probably play 9 divisional games so to give the North more access to the SoCal schools.

                            I like this split

                            A
                            USC
                            Stanford
                            Oregon St
                            Washington St
                            Arizona
                            Utah

                            B
                            UCLA
                            Cal
                            Oregon
                            Washington
                            Colorado
                            ASU

Then end the season with everyone playing crossover game with their rival. Two more random crossover games.

Compared to UNM, SDSU, UNLV, CSU. There will be two games worth watching if a BYU fan: BSU and TCU. Other than that.........
