  • What is Texas Tech up to?

Various media reports indicating that they haven't yet pledged loyalty to the Big 12. What would be the logic here? I can't imagine they would be getting talk from the PAC-XX would they? I don't see them with any options so what is going on?

Texas Longhorns, Big 12 provide a temporary solution to conference expansion - ESPN

One athletic director who has been involved in the national realignment negotiations put it this way Monday: "There is no emerging status quo. DeLoss [Dodds, the Texas athletic director] is buying the time he needs to contemplate and perhaps design a future that will be more on his terms."

Staggering to think that the future could get any more on Texas' terms, isn't it? Short of handing Dodds a scepter and giving the Longhorns an annual automatic BCS berth, there isn't much more sucking up the Big 12 could have done to keep Texas in the fold ...

.. Sure, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State and Baylor are happy today -- they were just spared conference homelessness. But happiness is a temporary emotion. If the revenue gap continues to widen between the most favored programs (add Oklahoma and Texas A&M to that list) and everyone else, so will the on-field gap.

They are pissed A&M got included in the sweetheart revenue sharing deal when they were lying about having an SEC offer, I suppose.

Yep, that's right. They're pissed because they've been left out of the big 3. I find it interesting that aTm never had an offer from the SEC. How they able to parlay that into OU/TU money is unclear to me.

Apparently they are trying to talk to the PACX to gain similar leverage as aTm did with the SEC. Not gonna work.

@chrislevel says the same thing. Does the PAC move on Utah quick now?

                  a) I think they've been the plan ever since Texas stayed. Any TT/PAC talk was generated by TT.

                  b) There is probably no reason to wait.
