This will be a sad day for me as a sports fan. The rivalry will have been given a death sentence. It will live on for a while but it will eventually fade away when we only play each other 2-3 times per decade.
I have always had fun with the rivalry. My wife is a U of U grad. She ran track for the Utes and Cougars (pre mission). The divided household has always bee a lot of fun. My FIL is a crimson club member and I loved going to BYU and Utah football games for years and sitting with all those Ute heathens in my BYU colors. It was fun. I will miss it. Without the Rilvary I will still cheer for BYU, but much of the fun, especially in years when neither team mattered much, will be gone.

It could be... but have some consolation that for now 2 other very good programs remain in our conference. USU had multiple schools leave them to form the WAC. Utah is only 1 school. A very important school to the MWC, but they are only 1 schoolOriginally posted by venkman View Post
