  • Utah & BYU > Nebraska

I understand the problem of having a worthy Northen Division. If Nebraska really is gone, the B12 can mend that wound by stuffing in Utah and BYU.

According to Chip Brown. Chip is going to fall hard, I fear.

exactly. Losing the Cornhuskers is the least of the Big 12 concerns.

I just can't believe how late the B12 was to act. Why did they allow themselves to become the shaken up and moved instead of the movers and shakers. Since its founding it's had more BCS title game appearances than any other conference, and 6 Final Four appearances. I don't understand why they're sitting around acting like they're not a player in all this.

What changed in your mind over the past 2 hours to start including BYU in your talk? I don't think I follow. This is one thing that I actually do need an explanation on.

I'm intellectually honest. I'd most like Utah in the P12 and BYU screwed blue. But Utah/BYU to the B12 north seems like a great move for the B12. Just being honest.

According to Joe Schaad at ESPN and several other sources (Chip Brown being one of them) if Missourri bounces too, the Big 12 wants BYU and Air Force.

That's only because they assume Utah is taken. Air Force has nothing to offer. No fan base, essentially. No one in Colorado especially cares about them.

Wouldn't it be poetic justice though if Utah and BYU took a B12 invite and thereby stopped Texas from gong to the Pac.

If the Utes can save college football by going to the B12 instead of the Pac they should think about it.

I agree that would be a good move for Utah if they don't go to the PAC-10+2. It would be nice to see the Big-12 keep it together after NU departs.

Of course, if the PAC-10+6 happens then something has to happen with the teams that are left over. Maybe the left-overs conference:

Babs, what’s the general sentiment on the OU boards? Stay B12 or road trips to the Palouse and Memorial Stadium?

I wonder how many Memorial Stadiums there are in the NCAA. I know OU, Nebraska, and Texas all have them.

Anyway, sentiment is mixed, like anywhere else, I guess. I talked to one fan yesterday who's pretty pumped about it. Most fans I think are sort of skeptical of a move but fairly resigned to the fact that it's happening. For a while fans seemed sort of giddy at the thought that OU would be invited but Oklahoma State (which is not accredited) would be left out, but it doesn't look like that's the case.

There's some melancholy over the dissolution of a conference that's been around for over a hundred years, and the final nail in the coffins of our series with Nebraska and Kansas. Up til the Big 12 was formed, Oklahoma and Kansas had the longest running continuous series in the country. And the OU-Nebraska rivalry is one of the most storied in the sport; it included the original "game of the century." Now we won't play either team at all.

The sports radio out here is just pretty incredulous that the Big12 has failed to act at all and is watching the landscape shift around them. I think most of us are wondering about the same thing.
