The Super WAC lasted what 3 seasons? The Big East basketball conference has been talking contraction for awhile. So what's the over under before the Big 13 and Pac 16 are done?

I was wondering this myself today. I think 5-10 years will be long enough for a Mountain West_wac type situation to work itself out.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThe Super WAC lasted what 3 seasons? The Super WAC didn't have any teams, so to compare the two is somewhat silly. Utah had just hired McBride, TCU was awful. There was nobody in that conf besides BYU.
The P16 has 5-6 schools as big as BYU was then and another 4 that are bigger today than where any other WAC school was in 95.

The big problem with the old WAC was how there was no logical way to split it up into divisions and keep everyone happy and make it competitive.
The Pac 10/Big 12 marriage really seems perfect for that. Toss the AZ schools over, who no one cares about it, and it's really more of two separate leagues sharing a TV contract and holding a championship game.

I wasn't comparing the two. Just giving a yardstick. I fully understand the difference between the two.
I don't believe a superconference can be sustained even with the caliber of teams the proposed Pac 16 will have. This will kill the other sports imo."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Why not? If the Pac 16 can somehow secure two auto bids, why wouldn't it succeed?Originally posted by Surfah View PostI wasn't comparing the two. Just giving a yardstick. I fully understand the difference between the two.

Not to mention all they have to do is just have their teams play in their own half of the conference. Its not as tough as surfah seems to think.Originally posted by falafel View PostWhy not? I agree. Its basically just two BCS leagues loosely affiliated.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostNot to mention all they have to do is just have their teams play in their own half of the conference.
