    Staircase 1.0.
Really painful. The 90 degree turn at the bottom made the movers say lots of naughty words. I had to take down the old handrail just to get our king size bed upstairs....

Took a section of wall out, added some support beams, and sent the stairway into the living room.

To make the handrail hit the center of the support beam I made the wall wider.

Wall done, beam wrapped with decorative work.

Painted everything, including the living room.

    Skirts attached.

Went with white oak treads. They stained up better (I really dislike red oak), really durable, and were much cheaper than other woods. The 2nd to last tread has to wrap into the beam, so it took a little work with the skill saw.

    I intend to live forever.
    So far, so good.

First treads in place. This is at the top of the stairs. There is a 90 degree turn onto the upstairs landing. Becky looks on. And no, she's not taking a dump on the stairs.

Glued in treads with PL 400. Did a few stairs each day, piled on the books and we had to walk carefully.

    Treads all done.

Handrail and balusters. Just about done.

    I intend to live forever.
    So far, so good.

wow, Brian....that is some beautiful work. How great. It looks fantastic. those steps look great and I like the colors. Nice job on the U in the living room.

when did all you guys learn how to do all this stuff? I am so impressed.

The closest I will ever get to what you accomplished is that we seem to have the same shop vac.
      Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Seriously good work. Right down to the trim on the skirts under each tread.
