  • The 2009 Awful Movie thread

I am going to get the ball rolling and nominate a movie that hasn't even been released quite yet. Based on the previews, I am pretty sure it will be awful.

    Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

I have to hand it to the producers, though. They have really advertised the heck out of this thing.

I am hoping nobody on this site would ever go see this movie, but in case you do, please be so kind as to provide a quick confirmation of my initial impression.

From 2008... "The House Bunny".. The wife rented this turd a couple of weeks ago because she liked anna faris in "Just Friends"... Btw.. Just friends was surprisingly ok.

I've found this simple rule of thumb works for me when it comes to movies:

If it was made after 1987, chances are it sucks.

I find your lack of intellectual curiosity GWB in scale. How are we ever to broker a peace in the underworld if we don't understand the roots of the conflict between vampire and werewolf?

You have inspired me. I have decided that my latest obsession will be to trick as many people as possible into seeing "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans."

I am going to tell people in my office that I was able to go to the sneak of U:ROTL and that it was amazing. Then I will see how many people I can get to go see it.

I will take a 3-Card Monty approach to recommending it. I will ask them, "did you like LOTR or Harry Potter or X-Men?" Whichever one they choose, I will tell them that U:ROTL is like that movie.

I am going to start with the admin because they all seem to be fairly dumb and go to lots of movies.

If they're male tell them it's Kate Beckinsale's best role to date, even better than the original or Evolution. And then wink and give them a knowing glance.

I don't know about you, but I generally don't want to see any Rise in the Lycra, if you know what I mean.....

When I thought of this stupiud joke originally, I had to decide which way to take it. I thought you would go the way you did, but I decided to keep it family friendly. I am alittle disappointed, however, as you could work in the Kate Beckinsale perfromance and the rise of the . . .nevermind.

                    I resent your insinuations.

I was referring to the rise in the price of lycra, which, we as know, is already very expensive.

Of course you were. What did you think I meant?

Bump. Jan 23 needs to get here quickly. It is getting harder to keep reminding people to go see Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

you can see the full trailer now a the official website.

                        http://www.entertheunderworld.com/

So far I have only been able to get solid commitments from 3 people in the office. I think that if I were to start hanging out in the IT department or with the copy services guys, I would have a higher hit ratio of potential converts.

The subtitle, "Rise of the Lycans," may be enough to get me to watch it, as any subtitled movie is nearly always wonderfully awful (except, of course, for Breakin' 2, Electric Boogaloo, the Citizen Kane of movies about people rolling around on asphalt). I'm also fond of Highlander 2, The Quickening.

Coppola blew it by not appending a subtitle to Godfather 2.

It was originally titled Godfather 2: Rise of the Dego Wop Guinea Goomba Greaseballs

My favorite awful movie of last year was Mummy 3. That was so bad I had to watch the whole thing. If it were even marginally better, I woulda walked out.
