  • Vegas Bowl?

Apologies if this has already been discussed the last few days (I've only been able to browse from my BB since Wed. night, still am, and have missed most threads), but 1) is BYU going to Vegas? and 2) who is the likely PAC 10 opponent?

Right now in the Pac 10 there is a 4 way tie for 3rd. USC, Stanford, Arizona and Cal all have 3 loses. If Oregon beats Oregon St. on Thursday their will be a 5 way tie for 2nd with those teams listed above and OSU.

I think they will be in Vegas for the 5th straight year but the opponent is really unclear at this point. It depends on the bowls who select before the Vegas bowl that have Pac-10 tie ins and who they invite.

I will be booking two rooms in each city on Monday morning. Hopefully they will get the invitation sorted out soon so I can get a flight.

        Selections go like this.

        Holiday bowl
        Sun bowl
Emerald and vegas coordinate for geographical preference

        Then the poinsettia

I'd be awfully surprised if the Vegas Bowl took BYU again. There's nothing for either the school or the bowl to gain from the invite.

Except tickets sales. You are probably right.

I know I'd rather go to SD.

Ticket sales is my point. How many years will fans keep buying tickets to the same bowl?

I like how the Vegas Bowl changed names to try to throw BYU fans off. "Why no, you're not in the Vegas Bowl again..."

speaking of right, didn't you and I have a bet...?

I would rather go where the better opponent is.

Agree. Opponent will determine if I go or not. Arizona, I will definitely not be going.

We did have a bet and you won.

BYU fans will still buy tickets and go to Vegas. They did last year even though they were coming off an ass kicking by the hands of the Utes. This year might be a little different because of the timing of the game. Tuesday night 3 days before Christmas. Both Vegas and the Poinsettia Bowls will have trouble selling tickets unless SC is playing in either of them.

I forget how loyal BYU fans are. Most fan bases would get bored. I think even USC fans started to complain about getting "stuck" in the Rose Bowl too many times.

Anyway, bet and winning streak notwithstanding, I was a little sad about Oklahoma State yesterday, as it confirmed just how weak the Big 12 really is this year.

I hope that the Utes go to Vegas - It is a destination that I would much rather visit. Still, both are within driving distance for me, so I will be attending either one.

it's because BYU is the Lord's school
