  • tickets to bcs game from Jdart on utefans.net

I had a few extra minues (on break obviously Y Sux, you don't need to worry about me just because you are my supervisor) at work today, so I decided to look into BcS game ticket sales. I have read a few Alabama fans on other boards claim that it is so pathetic that Utah can't sell out their allotment and that is why non-AQ teams shouldn't be invited to a BcS game above teams from BcS conferences. Here are some things I found, assuming I would be needing 2 tickets for my wife and I:

If I wanted to go to the Sugar Bowl and sit in Utah's section I could still get tickets. I would be in section 619 on Row 17. Utah presold all tickets in the sections 300 and lower and presold to UTAH fans before Alabama fans could buy about 10,500 tickets. Since public sales have started Utah has sold about 14 or 15,000 of their 17,500 tickets. I don't have numbers for some other schools, but here are tickets I find.

National Championship tickets from both Schools, Alabama's allotment to the Sugar Bowl, and all Rose Bowl tickets from both schools have been sold out and have they non avalible. Well done to those fan bases to be able to sell all their tickets during these tough times.

Orange Bowl: I cannot get through on the phone to Cincinnati's ticket office, and they have no tickets avalible online. So, it is possible they don't have any tickets.
If I buy them from Virginia Tech, of the ACC conference who ESPN claimed was the best conference in football, my wife and I could be in section 138 Row 29. That is in the lower bowl about the goal line.
Also, stub hub has tickets avalible for $8.00

Fiesta Bowl: Obviously with 2 storied programs and their history, this game will sell more tickets than a lowly MWC team could have brought: (Mind you, Utah's ticket office sold over 35,000 tickets to the Fiesta Bowl in 04, then estimates have our attendance over 50,000)

Through Texas' ticket office, my wife and I can still get tickets but we are in the upper bowl, similar seats to what Utah has left for the Sugar Bowl. They are getting close to selling their allotment

Through Ohio I can also get tickets: Section 105 (about the 10 yard line) ROW 8. On sale to anyone in the general public who will buy them. Hell, we fly back to Vegas that day, we are half way to Glendale. Maybe we should go catch a second bcs bowl at that price

My point is this: Utah's ticket sales are really not so bad considering the economy and other school's inability to sell.

I am not mad at all at Alabama for not buying more of our tickets, but I (and many others) will be driving as far as them just to catch a plane from a different city. In 2004, Utah's allotment started out over 20,000 tickets, then they requested any tickets that Pitt would sell them and sold all of those too (about 12,000 more.) I'm sure Utah's ticket office would be happy to sell Alabama a few of those sections at this point, but Alabama doesn't want to financial risk of not being able to sell what they bought, so they try to send their fans to our ticket office instead.

Thank you too any Alabama fans who bought some of those and lessened the cost to our school. And Thank you and huge props to the 12,000 or so Utah fans who have tickets and can make it!!

    Go Utes!!!

I dont think Utah would sell nearly as many tickets as they did in 2004, but they would most definitely sell more than they have to the Sugar Bowl.
