The NCAA needs to get rid of all these conference agreements with bowls. One of best things back in the day was that the Holiday Bowl always brought a new team to play against BYU. With the Holiday Bowl agreement and now the Poinsettia, it really limits the opponents that can make the MWC can play against. I would rather see a 6-5 Big 10, Big 12, ACC team than see Arizona, Oregon and UCLA every year. I want some variety. Without the agreements the MWC champion could play in the Citrus Bowl or some other Bowl every year. I just don''t see a lot of satisfaction in playing the Pac-10 or Navy every year.

Another issue I have with the current bowl system

It would make things much more exciting if the bowls only had limited tie ins. It would make the end of college football much more like selection Sunday for March madness, waiting to see where you team got slotted.
Maybe a team turns down a bowl against a better team to play a lesser opponent and win. 100% agree this would be much better for college football.Get confident, stupid

That was one of the fun things about the bowl season, getting to see a team that you rarely play. Now we know it will be a Pac-10 team that BYU or Utah has played multiple times in the last 5-6 years."To the man who only has a hammer, everything he encounters begins to look like a nail."

Maybe its just that you guys play in same bowl each year. Hear are Utah's bowl games since 2001
Season Opponent Venue
2001 Southern Cal Vegas Bowl
2003 Southern Miss Liberty Bowl
2004 Pitt Fiesta Bowl
2005 Georgia Tech Emerald Bowl
2006 Tulsa Armed Forces Bowl
2007 Navy Poinsettia Bowl
2008 Alabama Sugar Bowl
In contrast since 2001 byu has played in the liberty bowl once and 4 times in vegas bowl against pac-10 opponents."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. It has become apparent that a man can, within limits, follow his inclinations within the arms of the Church if he does so discreetly." - The Walking Drum
"And here’s what life comes down to—not how many years you live, but how many of those years are filled with bullshit that doesn’t amount to anything to satisfy the requirements of some dickhead you’ll never get the pleasure of punching in the face." – Adam Carolla

I beg your pardon. BYU has played twice in the Pioneer Purevision Las Vegas Bowl and twice in the Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl. You make it seem like BYU goes to the same old game every year.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostIn contrast since 2001 byu has played in the liberty bowl once and 4 times in vegas bowl against pac-10 opponents.
And don't forget that they are guaranteed to go to a different bowl game this year. Thanks Maaco!
