considering how tired I get after going for a run or a hike, i know that is coming much sooner, than later.

I really doubt his visit had the impact you are describing. That is certainly not the narrative he is spinning.Originally posted by Commando View Post
Precisely! Way to read between the lines. Do you think Bronco would have felt any unsettlement or melancholy had he been booed or just been treated regular? Maybe you have some inside information as to why he stepped away from college football, but based on his press conference, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that coming back to BYU and the feelings it brought back taught him that college football doesn't have what he's looking for at any level.
For the record, I never advocated booing him. But I thought the adulation was way over the top. I am glad we beat them and even more happy that we are no longer losing recruits to him.

Before you know it we'll be watching some Nixon and Hill kids take the field from the community room at the nursing home...Originally posted by Art Vandelay View Post
Didn't realize they were legacy kids. Brian's sons? It is cool to now be seeing the kids of players I enjoyed watching (Hall, Willis).

We were so nice to him that he quit his job? Uh.... Ok.

The other key element has been the winning. But yeah, the combination of the 2 has been great for recruiting and will help us with the transition to the Big XII.Originally posted by All-American View PostSince it was announced BYU would join the Big XII (and beat Utah), BYU received commitments from each of the top five rated recruits in this year's class. Three were committed to UVA; one was committed to Utah, and the other was leaning that way. That does not include the former five-star transfer, which also happened after the announcement.
There is a pretty good argument to be made that moving to the Big XII is helping recruiting.

Some of you here very vocally opposed showing Coach Mendenhall love or any kind of standing ovation when he came back to play us. He said he felt great and a 'little sad' about the warm reception he received. Could it be that coming 'home' to BYU reminded him that he was chasing something in Virginia that never existed? Maybe BYU's fans directly catalyzed Bronco into leaving college football and are somewhat responsible for this latest windfall of recruits. Reminds me of the fabled contest between the Sun and the Wind...

B12 move was an absolute game changer. Not only has it impacted recruiting (and will continue to impact) but there is no way we could have kept Kalani without the B12 move. Coaches and the program would have to be idiots not to leverage it whenever they can.Originally posted by All-American View PostSince it was announced BYU would join the Big XII (and beat Utah), BYU received commitments from each of the top five rated recruits in this year's class. It's become pretty clear that the impression Bronco got that he needed to step aside was because Jesus was tired of him stealing BYU recruits.

Yeah this is dumb. Pretty small logo too in this case. Lol.Originally posted by All-American View Post
BYU fans overextended in mocking Utah for being happy about being in a P5 conference. They were duly pleased, as we should be now that we are in.
