Utah gymnastics has more fans, so I couldn't care less if they beat us by a fluke here and there.

Coaches have no votes in a playoff. School presidents/chancellors would vote on that. Same for expansion.

Oh, I'm well aware of that. You would just figure that since he is such an important part of the athletics puzzle at SC, and hence in the PAC-10, his opinion would carry some weight.

Not sure, but part of the PAC 10's argument is that the conference is much stronger in athletics, period. The SEC argument only applies to football and some college basketball. Beyond that, is the SEC known for its athletics?

If you are talking only football, I have no problem with the notion that, year in and year out, the SEC as a whole is tops in the country.

The SEC does pretty well in track and field too.

Apparently, Carroll has no pull in the PAC-10, then. The PAC-10 and its Rosebowl sidekick are one of the big reasons there is no national playoff.

I'd agree that as a conference the Pac-10 is stronger when you combine all athletics. However, in the South Football is King. We don't have to many pork eating, meth cookers interested in Crew or Water Polo.

The Pac-10 has the highest all-time bowl game winning percentage of all FBS conferences.
The Pac-10 has a winning record against every BCS conference since 2000.
The Pac-10 is 9-2 in BCS Bowls since 2000.
The Pac-10 plays the lowest percentage of non-conference games against FCS (1-AA) opponents.
The Pac-10 has the most all-time team national championships by conference (378) with the Big Ten coming in second (220).
