Often, when people use the phrase "system QB" they mean it in a negative way. Ive never fully understood that because to a certain extent, all QBs benefit from the offensive schemes in which they play. Every successful QB is a system QB to a certain extent. Oregon uses system QBs. Dixon, Masoli, Thomas...now mariota. One leaves, another one gets plugged into the system. Chip has clearly crafted a system that works and is doing things Belotti could only dream of doing. Gimmick, system, whatever you call it....who cares? that is a lot of points in a huge hurry.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Agreed. BYU had some good talent at QB in the 80s and 90s but it was mostly system definitely. I liked this thought about QBs from David Carr. Spot on and applies to BYU's horrible QB problems the last few years:Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostOften, when people use the phrase "system QB" they mean it in a negative way. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/page/...se-quarterback"You really need the perfect [situation] if you're going to succeed as a [franchise] quarterback," said Carr, who is now a backup with the New York Giants. "You need a good offensive line, weapons around you and a playcaller who knows what you do well. If you have success early, you get time. If you don't, then your time is limited."

Did anyone catch the pregame last night before the game? I think that may have been the first time in my life that Mark May has more confidence in my Cougars than I do. He thinks tomorrow is a "frightening" game for Notre Dame and said despite what Oregon State did last week, this will be the best defense Notre Dame sees all year."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Although off to a rough start at Wazzu, this reminds me of something I heard Mike Leach say on the Andrew Siciliano show about 4 years ago during the height of success at Texas Tech. Siciliano asked him about that his guys were just system QBs and Leach's response was something to the effect of "Every QB plays in a system, I'm not aware of a team in the country that just has the QB run out and call out random plays".Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostOften, when people use the phrase "system QB" they mean it in a negative way. I always think of that when people use system QB, or gimmick offense as a derogatory term. I don't care how good someone that plays for my college team is in the NFL, I don't care if they are a prototype or not.Get confident, stupid

I'd just like to point out that Texas A&M's offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, has looked awesome this year. Watch any of their games and they've moved the ball at will against just about any opponent. He is also three years younger than Brandon Doman and has been coaching for three years less than Doman.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Kingsbury was a very good, real, QB back in the day. Doman has the mentality of an option QB, and can't escape it.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostI'd just like to point out that Texas A&M's offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, has looked awesome this year. On another note, Mettenberger has been awful most of this season. How long can Miles stick with him? Maybe they don't have a back up worth a shit.I'm like LeBron James.
