You do realize that the run and shoot is based on quick accurate passes. Something Jake has not shown an ability to do.

      Thinking is not BC's forte.

        LOL.

The football staff should not have allowed an interview at this time.

This kid is hurting. He had no immediate response for what he is doing to "fix" the problem. Hence he is working business as usual and avoiding the fact that he's been benched. This is sad...

If true I hope Jake battles whatever the issues are and receives the support of his teammates.

I completely forgot about Dan. He would be a good addition to this board.

I don't understand some of the derogatory remarks directed toward Jake or the poster. I can understand how some people feel he should be benched, but what is it he has done that causes some to feel they have to add the personal shots?

              • Dan is old CG fare. Really cool guy. Where has he been all this time?

I also think he is spot on wrt fans not supporting Jake. If Riley is the guy, then let's enjoy the ride and see where it goes. But all this negativity towards Jake is only messing with his head. Kid is still...well...a kid.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. But a strange post.

Sometimes I hate myself for loving college football so much. Whenever I watch grown men belittle a kid, that is one of those times. But alas, like a dog back to his vomit I will return.

Jake will have his moment. I don't think Dan is a troll and I believe his post. I can still remember the feeling when I watched John Beck soak up his glory moment. Perhaps, Jakes will be in a more visible place of of more significance than beating a 7-5 MWC team, but it will come. I really enjoyed the moment for Beck, he had been through a tough patch and his personal reclamation and triumph added to my personal Shawshank Redemption coming out of the sewer pipe moment.

I doubt I am heading to a sewer pipe moment, but I sure look forward to Jake's trip to gloryland.

Edit: I hope the young OC learns to adopt the "if things work out we have a chance to be a pretty good offense" line from Lavell. Now BYU fans don't need much fuel for their flames of expectations, but Doman and Heaps did not help things a great deal all summer.

                      • I watched the video of Jake's post-practice (Tuesday, I think?) interview last night. I wasn't buying it--I don't feel the humility and desire to improve that people like Jay Drew saw. Especially the bit where he tried to answer the question about what he needs to improve--that was really awkward.

It's new to him, give it time. His parents did him no favors but even at 20 what has been done can be undone. I just hope Doman and Bronco are the men to do it.

                          • Was watching the KBYU BYU show. Noticed Heaps has 568 attempts as BYU QB. That's a career for a lot of college QB's. Hard to still talk about youth and inexperience as an excuse.

                            • He needs to be put at the tail end of the depth chart, dead last. He needs to be told that he can have the starting job again, if and only if, he can work his way back up the depth chart and earn the respect of his teammates and keeps his mouth shut. The expectation needs to be set that he will not play another down until he can prove himself. He needs to redshirt next year, let Nelson finish his senior year and then Jake can battle it out with Munns and Lark on even footing in Spring 2013.
