Everyone needs to chill out. Cougars, you're sounding more and more like the child left behind.
Utes, I gotta say you're getting what you asked for in the PAC12, but ultimately this will pay off.

This coming from the fan of a team that lost 54-10 to Utah. I'd say the jury is still out on UW's trajectory.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostHis opening statement is ridiculous. What he seems to forget is that the utes were at home and UW isn't very good. I would say the only possible way the utes lose in a blowout is if they turn it over 5 times and Wynn gets hurt.

SU:
Your last post shows that your flight pattern here is troll the cougars, but deep inside there truly is intelligence and reason between your ears. This is giving me a headache.

No, I'm just stealing stuff I find on the Internet and converting it to Ute purposes with my mad Photobucket skills. This week's avatar was stolen from an Arizona site. But I do believe I got the idea from you, and derivatively from USC. Fight on!Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostAre the Utes doing weekly "beat" merch now?
USC. check.

I mean the outcome. SU hasn't said anything different than what cougjunkie has said about the game.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostYou mean the score.

Thanks, BO. This helpful, especially for those of us like me, who didn't see the whole game and aren't masochistic enough to watch it.Originally posted by BoylenOver View Postre-watching the game:
-for a guy that received so much hype as a JUCO guy prior to 2010, John Cullen makes a ton of mental mistakes.
-I alternate between picking Derrick Shelby and Brian Blechen as Utah's best defender. Both are having great seasons.
-I'm down on Matt Martinez, but he was flying to the ball on UW's first offensive series.
-It's still surprising to see the TE's used so much in the Chow offense, yet Kendrick Moeai is nowhere to be found. I mean, the dude can't run block worth a crap, but he inspired so much excitement after the '09 Poinsettia Bowl.
-Dres Anderson made a great catch on the TD.
-Wynn looked really sharp. I think Chow fell in love with the deep ball early, though. It worked on the 2nd offensive drive, but lost effectiveness after that.
-Utah has to convert on 3rd and 2 late in the first quarter. Yes, Cullen jumping on 4th and 1 was also a huge gaffe, but we shouldn't have been in that situation. In addition, Utah would really benefit from the quick-snap QB sneak you see so much in football.
-It's not sustainable, but Utah is very good in 3rd and long. I guess that's the benefit of constantly being in 3rd and long.
-Utah did some nice things on the ground at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Stretch plays, draw counter (one of my favorite plays). We were beating the Huskies on the edges.
-On the Wynn INT in the red zone, the UW defensive end got a good push against the guard, and it prevented Wynn from stepping into the throw. Instead of hitting DVC in stride in the zone void, the defender caught it below his waist.
-Loved seeing Shelby abuse two linemen midway through the 2nd quarter. Utah sent 3 rushers and got an emphatic sack.
-Most of us Ute fans said UW didn't make any mistakes, but the drive that ended with the Anderson fumble was aided by 30 yards in Husky penalties (kick-catch interference and pass interference). Gotta protect the football.
-Fakahafua made a freshman mistake on the late hit against Price. The hit itself wasn't dirty, but it was definitely late. You can't give the official a reason to throw the flag.
-You can talk about the 2 personal fouls before the half all you want, we had them 3rd and 7 at the 36 and couldn't get a stop.
-The 2nd play of the 3rd quarter, Martinez mis-identified the draw, got blocked out of the play, and it turned into a 50-yard run.
-That same drive, Chaz Walker is 3 yards away from the TE in pass coverage (and it was definitely man). Not surprisingly, Price found him easily and UW converted for first.
-Washington did a great job staying "on schedule" in the 3rd quarter. It's easy to move the ball and pick up points when you're in good situations on 2nd and 3rd down.
-On the Hays INT, it wasn't a good throw, but Anderson has to go into DB mode and prevent the turnover. Nice play by the defender, though.
-As the quarter wears on, the linebackers get worse and worse. I thought they played ok in the first half, but whether they're wearing down or getting exposed, I'm not sure.
-UW's TD to make it 24-7, the Huskies are in max protect. It's a two-man route against Utah running zone (looked like Cover 3), but Price makes a perfect throw to hit the WR in stride, and the safety didn't get there in time.
-3rd and 5 late in the 3rd, Hays hits Dunn in stride but he's a yard short. Again, you have to convert on that. Way too many situations where Utah needed a yard and didn't get it.
-Star had an anonymous game. That doesn't necessarily mean he had an awful performance, but I'm used to seeing him around the ball more.
-Midway through the 4th, the game's over, but following the huge play to DVC, Hays didn't protect the ball. Just take the sack in that situation.
-Hays made some good throws and good decisions on the last drive, though. And Washington was playing a "normal" defense.
The offensive line is bad in run blocking, and the linebackers went from playing ok to playing really bad against the run, but I feel a little better about the team going forward than I did last night.
