Three years ago, I interviewed with Tom. I could not believe how much energy he had. We were supposed to talk for 15 minutes and it turned into a hour.
Guy loves BYU through and through. I pity his successor.

Does Brian Santiago automatically get the nod? Or is there someone else in the pipeline?

Yeah, we owe everything to that guy.Originally posted by YOhio View Post
Legend. We've been so extremely fortunate to have him over the past couple of decades.

Tom Holmoe retiring. Not unexpected. He's getting old. What an AD. So Glen Tucketesqe. He led us to the Promised Land. Dang.

In my mind here is the benefit. Without the confirmation from the University as to the sin and it's severity, it is just rumor out there as to those things.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostIt will always come out, only now it won't be publicly announced by a university representative supposedly concerned with helping a young man repent of his sins.
In that situation the University has a lot more flexibility in what punishment to deal out. There is no doubt in my mind that once the sin is confirmed, for PR purposes the punishment is put in motion and probably more severe than if the item were know just amongst friends.

I'll not rise to that bait.Originally posted by YOhio View PostWuap, if you ever correct anyone's Spanish in a sports thread again you'll going to be banned from the sports forums. Totally outrageous behavior.
No, I don't. It will always come out, only now it won't be publicly announced by a university representative supposedly concerned with helping a young man repent of his sins.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostYou think the new policy will prevent the "public shaming in the press"? I think the way the Hoffman suspension was handled demonstrates that not commenting results in less of a media firestorm.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostYou think the new policy will prevent the "public shaming in the press"? Interesting. Based on discussions with the very few former BYU athletes I've known, they always gave the impression that BYU athletes are typically a little more lenient with the honor code because they are given more leniency.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI don't think this is true. In fact, I think the opposite may be true.
You are probably surrounded by former/current BYU athletes (since your kids go to Timpview), so you're probably right.
