"Dear Tom Holmoe" - the thread for saying stuff to Tom Holmoe
ftr, I don't think he makes bad decisions. I just think his authority to implement decisions for BYU athletics and influence on the real decision makers is slightly higher than mine.
This and it started with letting Glen Tuckett go. There was a belief that the AD department and athletics was overshadowing to many people. There was a blip when they really hired someone qualified to run the department, but they soon found out no matter his background and experience, the higher ups still felt they knew more about it.
I think Holmoe is very capable.
You could hire the greatest AD in America. How long do you think he would last. I think that is why the AD and head coaches are required to be LDS. They understand the "sustaining" principle.
'Sup Tom - glad we have this tool for talking to you now. Ever since the night I managed to high five you as you left the field on Candlestick on that Monday in 1987 I feel like you've been a little distant - this feels a lot closer. Hope you feel it too.
So anyway - just wanted to say I know this must be a crazy week and whatever the outcomes are I've got a lot faith that you're going to make the smartest decision. By "a lot" I mean more than Viking and Jay Santos who don't seem to have the highest opinions of your decision-making ability.
However it goes down I'll still go for another high five - or possibly a fist bump (but not the high five / man hug combo) at our next meeting.

please inspire us by living the words of the Saviour. Specifically, 'make friends of the mammon of unrighteousness.' I'm pretty sure he meant the Big 12.
I think, perhaps, the only person who hates BYU fans more than ute fans hate BYU fans, is Bronco Mendenhall.

I agree with this. Holmoe is great. It's the bossmen that get in the way.
It's amazing you have made it to where you're at in this life--Division I athlete, professional athlete, Division I coach, and now Division I athletic director--with your last name. How you didn't crumble under the constant comparisons of your last name to "Homo" during the homophobic and insensitive locker rooms of the 70s and 80s is nothing short of miraculous.
So please don't prove all those locker room jerks right by screwing the male BYU fans and sticking with independence (apologies to the female BYU fans...I know you're getting screwed too).
Anyway, I wrote in the other thread about a problem with streaming the BYU beat down of Utah soccer match last week via BYUtv. Well, I wrote a note to BYUtv last week and Stephanie from BYUtv Viewer Services wrote back today and the problem is solved! So, no need to boardmail me or my people.
Keep up the good work!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
