Yes, the swedes are easily squeezed, especially by hitler:Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostSwedish squeezable bacon! Awesome!
Swedes love squeezable condiments. Our favorite is the squeezable shrimp cheese. Yummy!

"However, when it came to trade with the Nazi regime, the Swedes, for a period of time, accommodated themselves to the Reich to an even greater extent than the Swiss did. The Swedish economy was, for a number of years, almost fully integrated into the Nazis' New Order; the country supplied Germany with high-grade iron ore (30 percent of that used by the German armaments industry), as well as ball bearings, foodstuffs, wood, and many other raw materials. In matters of finance, the Swedes cooperated with Germany by providing credit, which allowed the delivery of vast quantities of military equipment to the Wehrmacht. Moreover, after the war, the Swedish central bank, the Riksbank, "examined gold it had received from the Nazis in payment for exports and returned about 13 tons that presumably had been stolen [from] Belgium and the Netherlands."24
The Swedes believed, at least for the first years of the war, that cooperation with Germany was necessary to preserve a precarious neutrality. But after 1943 the Swedish government, heeding Allied warnings about neutrals doing business with Germany, detached the country from the German "political and commercial web," and gradually established closer ties with the Allies.25 There is no doubt that for several years Sweden put its considerable economic resources at the disposal of the Reich; but its behavior in the latter stages of the war removed much of the stigma of collaboration."Last edited by Viking; 11-17-2011, 05:21 PM.

Why you gotta be like that? Consider me having stepped outside with you.Originally posted by Viking View PostYes, the swedes are easily squeezed, especially by hitler:

I'm still not feeling it, my friend. Why would BYU want to join a league from which most of the current members would bolt in a nano-second? This seems like it could be a disaster and few writers are even considering this angle.Originally posted by Viking View PostKudos to MRD for nailing it with this thread.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'd rather not play PSU.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostSo if this happens hopefully the BE will only play 7 conference games. 5 against your division and then one home and one away against two teams from the other division. Division winner is based upon the division games.
This would leave BYU to play 5 OOC games. If those are: Utah, Utah State (force them into a 2-1 deal to balance out the A-H-Neutral deals throughout the land), the Neutral deal, a decent and hopefully either Big-12 or Pac home and home series and a crappy team that might even be 1-AA/FCS.
Over a three year period this is how I see the schedule working out and I will use Penn State as our neutral team:
YR 1:
Home - Boise State, SMU, UConn, USU, Oregon State, FCS
Away - Utah, AFA, Houston, Cincy, Penn State, Navy
YR 2:
Home - Utah, AFA, Houston, Cincy, Utah State, South Florida, FCS
Away - Boise State, SMU, Penn State (N), Louisiville, UCLA
YR 3:
Home - Boise State, SMU, Rutgers, UCLA, Penn State, FCS
Away - Utah, AFA, Houston, Cincy, Utah State, UCF
Uhhh. Perhaps we should look first to replace the FCS game. I guess it is a step up.Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

This, I believe, would be horrible for the BE and BYU

I hate everything about the BCS. If they had any integrity we would have a playoff."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

As do I. It's a horrendous way to decide which teams play for a fake national championship."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

This is why I say it's beyond stupid to make long term decisions about conference affiliation on current BCS rules which are changing yearly.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostThis, I believe, would be horrible for the BE and BYU

At a minimum, NCAA should step in and manage the bowl system. The bowls as entities add a layer of cost to the system that's unnecessary and bring in all the unfairness because everything's a profit motive. The NCAA should receive applications from cities to host bowl games and then allocate teams fairly with a selection committee the same as basketball. I'd like to see a tourney, but that would be a good first step to eliminate a lot of the garbage.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWow. Not good for Utah either.
