Yeah, I don't like that at all. Wonder what the penalties are for early termination. I could totally see Stanford getting a 4 for 1 and then bailing.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Yeah, that is a total joke. I can't believe someone agreed to that.Originally posted by Joe Public View PostFour more games with Stanford. The first two are at Stanford in November, and the back end is Aug/Sept in Provo in 2031 and 2035.
If I am looking at this correctly, the combined eight games under contract with the Cardinal have four of the first five at Stanford."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Unless the penalties are high for the early termination, I'd think that is the most likely scenario.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostYeah, I don't like that at all. Stanford needs to fill those November dates in years opposite Notre Dame. Now we need to get USC to do the same. Annual games with USC and Stanford really would make us the Notre Dame of the west.Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View PostUnless the penalties are high for the early termination, I'd think that is the most likely scenario.

My prediction: the 2029 game never happens. The 2028 game will be the last time the two meet, because scheduling issues will suddenly come up when Stanford is looking at a bunch of road games to Provo. Kind of like ND.Originally posted by Joe Public View PostFour more games with Stanford. The first two are at Stanford in November, and the back end is Aug/Sept in Provo in 2031 and 2035.

I see this prediction a lot. The only precedence we have is Notre Dame, who ran into issues when the made a scheduling agreement with the ACC. I think Alabama bought out a return game in the late 90's as well.Originally posted by LVAllen View PostMy prediction: the 2029 game never happens. My prediction: The games are played as scheduled. We add another contract in a few years adding more home-and-home games that fill in the gaps.

Holmoe basically said they are keeping November (and December?) dates open in case teams need to add games to their schedule to replace COVID cancelations. That being said, looks like Boise State on Nov 7 is a strong possibility and I expect the Army game will be rescheduled for an open date when it gets closer.
It would be really nice if we get a bonus game in Nov or December from a higher tier team, but if we get Boise and Armh, I will not complain at all about that 9 game schedule considering the circumstances.

Wouldn't there be some hesitancy on Boise to schedule BYU who has been playing 2 months while they haven't? That goes for any of these teams that are late to start the season.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostHolmoe basically said they are keeping November (and December?) dates open in case teams need to add games to their schedule to replace COVID cancelations. Certainly. But my understanding is it is a ready-made solution to balance out the gap in their conf. schedule created that week by allowing air force to play army. We would definitely have an advantage but if boise wants to position for a NY6 bowl I think the potential reward for them outweighs the risk.Originally posted by USUC View PostWouldn't there be some hesitancy on Boise to schedule BYU who has been playing 2 months while they haven't? What year is it??!?Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostJake was pretty good last time he was on the blue turf. In a related note. BSU and UNLV are the 2 dumpiest college venues I've ever been to a game at.
It's been a while since we had a Jake helming the team (or are you talking about Oldroyd?). And UNLV has pretty nice digs at the moment."Seriously, is there a bigger high on the whole face of the earth than eating a salad?"--SeattleUte

I guess I just can't give up on fellow Washingtonian. In my defense I sat through that bowl game, that dump of a stadium. I haven't been to Sam Boyd in 12 or 15 years. The only cool part was taking rickshaw from the dirt parking lot to the mostly empty stadium.
