Speculations about the Alamo Bowl wanting BYU vs Colorado. I think it would be a great matchup, and the ratings would be excellent.

First 8 games he was 18 TDs, 7 Int, and 143 QB rating and 4.8 YPC for 3 TDs. Last 4 games he was 54% passing for 2 TDs, 3 Int, 120 QB Rating, and 2.8 YPC for 3 TDs. That is... not good.

I thought he played fine in the Houston game. You can't blame those drops and the other team mistakes on him."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Overall a great season for BYU. Obviously what could have been can linger but even in the losses I see improvement over previous seasons. One of my crticisms of Kalani's tenure was the inconsistency. With the two losses you had one where BYU outplayed the opponent but failed to capitalize when it mattered most and had a hugely unlucky play go against them. Against ASU, I liked the fight in half 2. BYU is a good team a legit top 15 contender but let the chance to solidify itself as a top 10 team slip away from them. Probably way too early to discuss next year as who knows which coaches and key players will leave BYU between now and August, but I will do so anyway.
I am still optimistic that BYU could be this good with Retzlaff at QB. He will be the limiting factor for the offense next year. I like theeturnees on offense. There is a good core for the OL-perhaps a portal addition or two will round it out but with a returning core of Luapaho, Mitchell, Makasini, Leusa and Jatta I think you could put together a good starting group. There are some strong recruits in the wings with Thomason, Brown and Tupou. I wonder if BYU has a shot of picking up that OT from Michigan who spurned BYU out of HS, I think he is from CO. I like the BYU skills position situation and really see no need for any immediate upgrades. I think LJ having en entire offseason healthy ought to help him to be more explosive next year and the 1-2 of he and Sione Moa sharing the RB position puts BYU is a real good situation, IMO.
On defense I hope BYU can keep Jay Hill. I like the returning core of defensive players as well. If all the LBs come back they will be outstanding for any program. I think the secondary has as many good young players as it has ever had. The DL is concerning but even without any major personal additions I think it will be adequate. Similar to this season with no real standouts but a group where everyone just does their job. I do think there is some more flashier standout talent at DE but it might not shine through until the 2026 season. It wouldn't break my heart if BYU moved Siale Esera to DE and Pouha to DT. I do think that BYU ought to strongly consider a few pickups out of the portal at DL. But with Asiata, Schoonover, Pouha and the returning interior DL guys BYU won't be terrible on the DL.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Jackson Bowers in the portal too. Highly rated TE when he joined, but two years in he hasn't been able to get on the field.
Not that I ever love losing guys that were good enough to contribute. But, so far, we are losing transfers out the bottom, not the top.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

I also think that Arod, and Kalani, are in the Whittingham mold of being conservative offensively so as to limit turnovers. I was wrong about Retzy, I did not think he could get BYU to a 10 win season.

How are we all feeling about the likely bowl game vs Colorado? Even though it's a conference foe I kind of like it. Not sure we can win it, but I like it. The other option being thrown around seems to be WSU. That would be a real let down.
