With Boise, Fresno, and Nevada now in the MWC, and the ESPN poll showing the nation views Boise's football program as more prestigious than BYU's (I'm kind of joking about that, but the results did surprise me a little), what do you think BYU should do?

Which option should BYU go with now?

The poll doesn't surprise me at all. If anything it surprises me it is that close.Originally posted by scottie View PostWith Boise, Fresno, and Nevada now in the MWC, and the ESPN poll showing the nation views Boise's football program as more prestigious than BYU's (I'm kind of joking about that, but the results did surprise me a little), what do you think BYU should do?
BSU has won 2 BCS games. Sure they play in a weak conference and maybe if they had played in even the MWC, they wouldn't have gotten to two games. Bottom line is they did and won both of them
What really has BYU done despite all the love and adoration on CB. Well, we have won 3 conference championships, beat Oklahoma and have done very well in the Vegas Bowl.
Now, I guess many people are looking at things off the field too. I guess that is fair because without that ND wouldn't be recognized as anything but a second rate D1 program. That being said, I am glad people recognize the other things, like attendance, exposure and tradition. Note, I didn't say people love us because we have the honor code.
So like I said, the ESPN poll is actually encouraging from my perspective.

I've been consistent for a long time now, at least I think I have. I've argued two points 1) we'd be better off financially and 2) FB scheduling as an independent will be easier than the naysayers believe. But on the flip side there are two big strikes against it 1) it would hurt BB which is equally important to me as a BYU fan. 2) it could hurt the FB program from a competitive standpoint, i.e. not having a conf championship to play for, lack of meaningful games last half of season, etc.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostYour answer surprises me.

I think I share your brain on most sports topics. C was my choice but a close second was D.
With option C I would want some deal to play 4 or 5 MWC games a year and you couple that with the ESPN games you pretty much have a full schedule every year that is on par or better than what we have now. Plus we'll also have Utah and USU (if they survive). Also basketball doesn't take a hit and I really don't care about the other sports other than track & field which would be fine either in the WAC or MWC. This option might also allow us to move quickly to the BIG 12 in football if offered, however that offer feels more like a pipe dream right now.
Option D is fine, but I'm resigned to the fact that the MWC will never be a BCS conference especially after adding UNR and FSU. They just drag us down further from that goal."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I could maybe go for C, but it sounds like the MWC has had it with BYU. I don't think C's even an option.Originally posted by Eddie Jones View PostC was my choice but a close second was D.

I voted for other. We should start a conference with Notre Dame in football just the two of us no other teams. We have enough draw that it can happen and change rules for teams needed in a conference. I imagine we would get between $500-502 million per game with a simulcast on CBS/ABC/NBC/MTV2. Then for the rest of the sports align with the IVY league, we are Harvard west and Notre Dame is average. It works.
Statman run the numbers for me, it might even be more than $502 mil per game.Get confident, stupid

Even with FSU and UNR, the WCC is probably a better Bball conferenceOriginally posted by cougjunkie View PostThe WCC is not better than the WAC minus Nevada and Fresno State?
