If the truck was strictly used for Football you would be correct. But that fact that KBYU and BYUtv are seen in 60 million households worldwide will help off set those costs. Not to mention I am sure when it was purchased they had the idea of leasing it out in mind. If ESPN is leasing it that will also help.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostLOL.

lol. That's a good summary of my feelings about the TV truck discussion.Originally posted by creekster View PostI am not following this closely, as I have said before, but I thought the truck was already purchased or at least going to be purchased for the media programs at the school? OTOH, I really find it hard to believe that a truck, regardless of how much it costs, would put ESPN hot on the cougar's trail. Come on, a truck?!? One truck?
but I really have no idea.

ESPN is going to give us a gazillion per game, even if we go back to being the average BYU team they decided they didn't want in the early 2000s, don't worry it'll all work out.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostLOL.

This might work if you move those P12, B10 and ACC games to the first 5 weeks of the season instead of the last 3. No chance that they agree to those games in late November.Originally posted by statman View Post1) Utah
2) Utah State
3) Boise State / TCU (they'd love the rivalry and the $$$ - ESPN could make it happen)
4) UNLV/CSU/Wyoming
5) IAA school
6) Army
7) Navy
8) AFA
9) ND (thank you ESPN)
10) PAC-12 school (thank you ESPN)
11) Big-10 school (thank you ESPN)
12) ACC school (thank you ESPN)
Depending on the randomness of scheduling and how good teams vary from year to year, that's generally a better schedule than BYU has ever played. And with ESPN helping scheduling, it's very doable...
So I could see you have
1-Utah
2-BSU
3-P12
4-B10
5-ACC
Bye
6-12 Garbage
If you go 4-1 or better to start you have a good season, anything else you end up in a bowl similar to Vegas. So why leave?

Because remember BYU has their own tv networks and I believe the church still owns a portion of KSL so they will be using the truck for more than just sports. That is how they were able to justify it.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostWhich begs the question--why did BYU spend 50 million on an HDTV truck? And why doesn't every school do this if it gains them access to ESPN power? Why hasn't Texas done it?
