Hypothetical BYU scheduling as an independent

And if scheduling proves to be more difficult than BYU projects, it may give them the "flexibility" to travel to RES again in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020....

League play across the NCAA is generally completed in either the second or thir saturday in November. Depending on that year's calendar (when the first week of games is in August) "Rivalry Week" is either the Saturday before or after Thanksgiving. Utah will be free to play the game then. They're blowing smoke to rile up the Cougar fans...Originally posted by SloanHater View PostUtah has already said it wants the game moved to September.

So Boise is taking BYU's schedule and BYU is taking Boise's? How has that worked out for the Broncos to be included in the BCS?Originally posted by creekster View PostI think this is one of the drawbacks. It will put more of an emphasis on the eraly season, si my guess. OTOH, that could work to BYU's adv., in some eyars, and no option is perfect at this point.

I've asked this question a bunch and the answer appears to be, ESPN.Originally posted by SloanHater View PostAnother problem with BYU scheduling will be the ability to make up for an early loss.
Playing the MWC, BYU usually faced a ranked TCU or Utah team in late October/early November. This provided an opportunity to make up for an early loss and move back up the polls.
Last year for example. A tough loss to FSU dropped them 12 spots in the polls. A win against TCU would have put them right back in the top 10.
How is this going to happen when they're playing service academies and WAC teams in October/November?

Sounds like this gives BYU the "flexibility" to travel to RES in 2011.

I'd be all for getting exposure with more conferences.Originally posted by pellegrino View Postwe all have to look out for our own best interests
.
I don't think it would be feasible to schedule all of them, but if they got two of those teams to play them annually and then alternated so that every year they were coming back east then that would be awesome.

amen bro, amenOriginally posted by Surfah View PostYou and me both. We'll split gas.
truth is, I think independence will actually make it possible to have more games on the east coast.

we all have to look out for our own best interestsOriginally posted by beelzebabette View PostPure speculation, but I think BYU intentionally only scheduled one east-coast game each year. That's a lot of travel.
EDIT: I'm not supposing you're suggesting we schedule all those in the same year.

You and me both. We'll split gas.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostTeams I'd love to see BYU schedule and that are entirely within the realm of possible:
Maryland
Navy
Duke
UNC
NC State
Wake Forest
Virginia
Virginia Tech
Pittsburgh
West Virginia
Marshall
Rutgers
Army
Cincinnati
Miami OH
I'd be very happy if we could schedule half of those teams for home/away games over the next five years.
