Not feeling great about the Baylor game. Hopefully the crowd can provide a boost. I just don't trust our DL against a Grimes/Mateos-coached OL.

I think both teams have the capability of moving the ball against the opposing offense. This game will be decided by mistakes committed by offense, IMO. I like BYU's maturity, home field advantage and the late start time.

I think a late score seals the deal for BYU as they get a 9-14 point win.

Both teams are good and it should be a fabulous environment in Lavell Edwards (peace be upon him) Stadium!

I will let someone else start a Baylor game thread. My genius is rarely appreciated around these parts..

BYU is currently a 3.5 favorite over a legit top 10 team. I hope I'm wrong, but that feels 6 points too high. Regardless for those who like to place emotional hedge bets, this is the perfect scenario.

Benefits:

• Possibility of stopping opponent inside their one 25. Though very rare to have it be less than 20 yard line, unless penalty on return team
• Turnover leading to great field position

Negatives:

• Opponent has field position better than 25
• Touchdown. It would be interesting to see stats of how frequent KR TDs occur versus turnovers.
• injuries. Kickoffs have the highest risk of injury of any play in the NFL (I assume it’s true at all levels)
• kickers are forced to do something semi-athletic, like push someone out of bounds.

im sure the stats show the benefits slightly out weigh the negatives, but if I had a kicker who could put the ball through the EZ that would be my coaching decision every time.

I would agree with this if it weren't for the rule that allows for a fair catch on a kick-off. If you trust the person receiving the kick to recognize when a fair catch is appropriate, most of the benefits are gone.

2023. One more year of this independence crap and playing crap P12 teams.

The schedule this year is a good schedule. It's a comparable schedule to what we will have in the Big-XII. BYU should be battle tested coming into conference in a way the other new programs won't be.
