  • BYU vs Baylor: The March to the Independence Bowl Continues

Baylor should offer some nice prep for any potential Independence Bowl opponents. I look forward to seeing how the cougs bounce back. I predict a win, but I’m about 50/50 on predictions this season, so take it for what it’s worth.

I just watched most of the Baylor-WVU game. If you look at WVU's scores, you'd think they have a really good defense. But they got scorched by BU--you'll recognize a lot of the plays. BU's QB is good enough to hit Thornton (who is crazy fast) over the top and to find Estrada (a smaller, sneakier WR).

As the game wore on, their RB (Abram Smith...sounds like a guy who should be playing for BYU) was definitely serviceable.

Bohanon (QB) is good. I don't know how much of a dual-threat he is, because he didn't need to do much with his legs against WVU. He broke his own PR for yards thrown in a game in the third quarter (280). So, it will be interesting to see whether this was an outlier or if he's just starting to settle into the Grimes offense.

Their O-Line looked decent. Apparently, they've struggled as a unit this year a bit. But the same was said about BSU.

Ika could create problems for the Cougs on defense. They had 6 sacks against WVU, I believe, and Ika had two of them. He's humongous...sort of a Khyris Tonga clone.

If the Cougs are able to pull this one out, it's gonna be a close one.

Update: haven’t run into any of you losers yet but just met and chatted with the Barrington’s grandparents. I asked if the o-line was going to get any friggin’ push for a change and they weren’t sure.

My son and I do an annual pilgrimage to Austin to catch a Texas game. This weekend worked best for his work schedule so were are sitting here in Austin (texas vs okie state). Kind of wish the Baylor game was at night so we could do both games (Texas game is early morning). But at least we can run back to our hotel and watch on TV.

Tons of BYU fans on the flight last night from SLC->Austin.

I'll also expect notes from Clark Addison about things to hit and miss in Waco. My friends and I do a Ute road game every year and we have Waco circled in two years.

You should have just gone to the BYU-Baylor game. There will be lots of ute fans there wearing utah gear.
