You've got to learn to make distinctions, young man. I'm sure they covered that at The BYU. Didn't they?

a voice of reason in this madness. seriously, though, i don't see the wisdom in these gigantic super/mega conferences. it seems like something doomed to failure, but the SEC doesn't get it.

the B12 is not going to disband. Stoops saying that if OU and Texas stopped playing that would be okay - well - that may be the dumbest thing i have ever heard a coach say. to say that college football rivalries aren't important to the game is ridiculous! rivalries are the essential element that makes the game so special.

You utes are killing it with the irony today.

        • Did I just read the ticker right? Stoops is quoted as saying OU would go to the PAC without Texas and that not playing in Texas wouldn't affect recruiting? Is he serious and why is he flapping his gums?

He told the Oklahoma media earlier that he's basically saying whatever Boren wants heard.

What are cinch or gut courses? Courses on how to cinch stuff to the top of the car, or how to gut a cow?
                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Good article. Looks like he's taking the Urban Meyer approach to rivalry names and refusing to even acknowledge the Utes.

"That's kind of how I look at it," Benson said. "I just don't want to change this dynamic. Every year we're in Northern and Southern California. We want that. Every year we're in Arizona. We want that. We're in Washington. We want that."

WV going to the SEC is interesting.

                    • I want west Virginia in the B12 with BYU.
                      Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

You keep this up, and I am going to start disliking you. You don't want that to happen.

Does anyone else see the irony? Nebraska left the Big 12 in part because of the idea that became the Longhorn Network, and Texas A&M is leaving the Big 12 because of the Longhorn Network's excesses, and OU wants to leave the Big 12 because of the instability the network wrought.

And when those cards fall, Texas' best option might be dismantling The Longhorn Network so UT can join the Sooners in a Pac-16 Conference.

                            • More from Chip Brown:

SEC didn't want to touch Missouri for fear of collapsing B12. With B12 on verge of collapse now anyway, SEC may not be so cautious with MU.
