I think BYU is going to come out just fine and may well end up in the Big 12 or a much better AQ-level MWC. If fate does smiles on Utah and we go to the PAC-whatever, some Ute fans will be insufferable. I am going to be embarrassed by them. I can tell you that there are lots and lots - perhas even a majority - who will empathize (deep down, we all really know how we would feel if the two programs' situations were reversed) and feel bad about leaving the same conference as our arch-rival. As for me, I promise to be nice.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostActually, it will be a bunch of posters not accepting the truth. They will justify that BYU doesn't need Utah and that Utah will go 0-12 every year. They will say that the only reason Utah went and not BYU is because of religious bigotry.

ESPN Insider Rumor Central speculating as to whether or not the SEC really wants or can take aTm. They note CNBC sports business reporter Darren Rovell's tweet Monday that if he were officials from Florida or Alabama, he'd tell SEC commissioner Mike Slive that adding Texas A&M to the league doesn't make sense from a financial perspective.
They then highlight the following points:
- The SEC is currently in great shape, with a lucrative long-term TV deal and an on-field dominance (four BCS champions in a row)
- The conference would want to add another school at the same time in order to have two balanced seven-team divisions (it might be tough to whittle down a 13-team group to a conference title game). While plenty of schools have been suggested as possibilities (Kansas, Virginia Tech, Miami and Florida State, to name a few), there hasn't been any definitive evidence indicating that the SEC would be happy to add any of those programs.
- In any event, A&M will need to know and decide soon, or else risk being left behind with the remaining Big 12 teams.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Joe Schad just on ESPN talked about Chip Brown's reports and gave them their due. But it seems like he still thinks Texas +3 bolts for the Pac 10. He then discussed Kansas a little and Schad said his sources say Utah is more likely to be the 16th school. He only mentioned the MWC as a conference wanting Kansas/Kansas State.Last edited by myboynoah; 06-14-2010, 09:21 AM.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

CB has been like the orchestra playing on the deck of the Titanic. Funny stuff. If you read them only it seems this is all a Utefans/Cella fantasy that is totally ridiculous.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostThe Utes will be incorrigible but the levels of denial by many will be pretty funny. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

It would be kind of funny if in the end Utah gets promoted to the Pac-10 and ends up bouncing between the Holiday bowl and Sun Bowl every year, while BYU gets left behind in a MWC that finally gets an autobid, so BYU goes BCS every other year.

Almost as funny as enlightened Ute fans whiling away the hours reading their stuff.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostCB has been like the orchestra playing on the deck of the Titanic. Funny stuff. If you read them only it seems this is all a Utefans/Cella fantasy that is totally ridiculous.
No schadenfreude there....nope, none at all.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

The only way I see the MWC getting an autobid in all of this is if they pick up enough of the old Big-12 teams. I don't see that happening. I bet Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri get into the Big East.Originally posted by Babs View PostIt would be kind of funny if in the end Utah gets promoted to the Pac-10 and ends up bouncing between the Holiday bowl and Sun Bowl every year, while BYU gets left behind in a MWC that finally gets an autobid, so BYU goes BCS every other year.

I don't think this is at all unlikely. I'm telling you--any new BCS deal, especially without the megaconference scenario, but even without it, will include the MWC, particularly if TCU and BSU go off this year, like their rosters and schedules say they should.Originally posted by Babs View PostIt would be kind of funny if in the end Utah gets promoted to the Pac-10 and ends up bouncing between the Holiday bowl and Sun Bowl every year, while BYU gets left behind in a MWC that finally gets an autobid, so BYU goes BCS every other year.
I'd still rather be in the PAC 10, with the venues and teams on the regular schedule and the money coming in every year, but this will be the end of Utah's BCS run.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah
