  • Wilner gives "U" more hope:

Pac-10 expansion: On Thursday, it becomes the Pac-11

If the Big 12 somehow stays intact, the Pac-10 will become the Pac-12, with Utah as the 12th member — that means two six-team divisions and a football championship game.

I repeat: The Pac-10 is expanding.

    100%. Done. Deal.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Here is one more chad for you...

Castiglione [Oklahoma AD] acknowledged that BYU and Air Force are two teams the Big 12 might look at if it can convince Texas to help hold the conference together.

While Castiglione also confirmed that the Southeastern Conference has shown interest in the Sooners, OU's position is that it's going to stick with Texas wherever the Longhorns go because of the long history between the two schools.

"I think it would be a horrendous decision for OU and Texas to break up," Castiglione said. "We're going to stick together if it's at all possible."

Castiglione said he expected Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe to release a statement immediately after Nebraska's departure becomes official. Beebe, Castiglione and Texas AD DeLoss Dodds apparently remain unified in their desire to save the Big 12.

OU is just afraid of getting their butt handed to them on a weekly basis instead of waiting for the bowl game.

So Nebraska Leaves... Instead of going to the PAC 10 you create your own Longhorn Network. There are about 18 million cable/satellite subscribers in Texas. They pay $1 a month per subscriber to your network. You say to A&M we will give you 15 million a year to get the games that arent natioally televised. Baylor and Tech you get 10 million. OK and OKST you guys get 10 million.

You then say to Arkansas that you would love to have them back and if they still say no you bring in TCU and give them 5 million to play on the Longhorn network. They are in Texas and work well with your new network. No one is going to oppose you because the all other big 12 schools are scared $#!+less about being left in the dust. Revenues from the new network are about 220 million per year. After the payouts you are making at least 130 million per year.

So then Colorado Jumps to the PAC12. You go to Arkansas another time they still say no and you get byu/unlv/boise st/new mexico/UTEP/Houston. All of these will gladly jump to the conference and sign with the Longhorn network for less than 5 million a year.

Then Mizzou goes to the new Big 10 + 6. So you go after Florida St, Miami, GA Tech and Arkansas. They all go (or stay with the SEC) so you get Lville, Cincy, Memphis and stop at 14 or go to 16 with a remainder from byu/unlv/boise st/new mexico/utep/Houston

Now you have also cut the Pac at 12 teams while making yourself a boatload of money.

              • Daily Camera article more cautious about Colorado's Pac-10 invitation, but offers insight into today's meeting in Texas.

                Buffs inch closer to Pac-10

A Big 12 source told the Camera that Texas Gov. Rick Perry has summoned representatives from Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Baylor to a meeting today to discuss strategies for keeping the foursome together in the same conference.

While the idea of adding Baylor is not a popular one with current members of the Pac-10, those feelings might be overcome by the huge television revenue that would be generated for the new league if Texas is added, both the school and the state.

The message from Texas politicians to the Pac-10 might be, "It`s a four pack or no Pac."

I can imagine no reason at all why Texas would ever want to add Houston to its conference. Makes no sense at all. Houston (the city) is dominated by three fan bases: Texas (first and foremost), Texas A&M and LSU (these last two in equal proportions from what I can tell). Houston is little-more than an also-ran. Might as well add Rice while you're at it.

                  • One thing that excites me about the PAC 10 expansion.. The wrestling conference in the PAC 10 just got SUBSTANTIALLY better..

                    They will now have:
                    Boise State
                    Stanford
                    Oregon St
                    Arizona St
                    Oklahoma
                    Oklahoma St
                    Cal St Bakersfield
                    Fullerton St
                    Cal Poly

I think the PAC 10 could easily request Texas to add a team and it will cause Oregon to come back in, and possibly Washington as well..

So from a Wrestling perspective. I am stoked about this conference. They just became the 2nd best wrestling conference (Behind Big Ten) nationally.

You need another school and they will be happy as clams to be in the same conference as the other texas schools and they will do it for peaunts.

                      • OU sources confirms move to Pac-16.

Rest in pieces, Big 12: OU, OSU move west seems imminent

One high-placed OU source indicated to The Oklahoman that the Sooners were headed West.

"Load up on your sunscreen,” the source said, referring to the sunny climates of Pac-10 cities.

Houston would be a last choice school, IMO, just ahead of Rice. You don't need to fight for the Houston market at all. Better to add somebody else.
