Rumers that teams, like the Suns, are interested in signing Rudy Gay as a free agent. At this point, don't you have to suspect that Rudy Gay would make the suns a worse team? Anyone that pays him real money does not deserve to be an NBA GM.

You do realize the Kings are close to .500 with Gay in the lineup.Originally posted by Jacob View PostRumers that teams, like the Suns, are interested in signing Rudy Gay as a free agent. He also has solid numbers with thr Kings.
The argument that Toronto got better after he left, is dumb. Toronto improved at 3 positions with that trade. Of course they are better.

Sacramento is 11-21 since making the trade for Gay. They are 11-16 in games he has played in. Toronto is 19-12 during that same span; they were 7-12 before. And of those games, Toronto has played 13 games against western conference teams, Sacramento has played 15. Sacramento won 46% of their games before trading for Gay. They've won 41% of the games he's played in since the trade, 34% overall since the deal.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostYou do realize the Kings are close to .500 with Gay in the lineup.

Toronto got 3 bench players back for Gay, and Salmons was really just a replacement for Ross who had to move into the starting lineup. A team dealt its "star" for 2 bench players and went from 36% win percentage to winning 61% of their games. Memphis had the 3rd best record in the NBA after trading Rudy Gay (29-16 record before moving him to Toronto, 27-10 after). The Gay Theory replacing The Ewing Theory definitely isn't dumb.

Before Gays injury, Sacramenton was 9-10 with Rudy Gay in the lineup, Since the injury he has struggled.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostSacramento is 11-21 since making the trade for Gay. With Rudy Gay they are a much better team.
Sacramento also won the head to head battle against Toronto.
Throwing out stats is nice, but watch the actual games. I have watched every Sacramento game this year and they are light years better with a healthy Gay in the lineup.
The fact that they are 0-5 without Gay in the lineup, proves my point.*Banned*

Let's go ahead and look at the run Rudy Gay was on before he was injured:
11-19 vs Miami
10-20 vs the Spurs
9-19 vs Houston
7-11 vs Philly
8-14 vs Charlotte
10-16 vs Portland
8-14 vs Charlotte
8-11 vs Orlando
8-12 vs Cleveland
6-14 vs Atlanta
12-19 vs Indiana
7-18 vs Memphis
Then he gets hurt against OKC and tries to play through it, shoots 3-7.
Bounces back the next night and goes 16-25 against New Orleans.
The next game he is injured in the first quarter vs Houston (shoots 2-5) and misses a week.
Comes back and has a 4 game stretch where he goes:
10-16 vs Memphis
10-16 vs Dallas
9-18 vs San Antonio
6-12 vs Chicago
Against Toronto he only shoots 7-17 but is 10-11 from the foul line and finishes with 24, 10 boards, 4 assists and 4 steals.
Then he misses several games with the flu.
Rudy Gay has played very well for Sacramento. If Gordon Hayward was shooting like this you would be fellating him in the ESA parking lot more than you already are.
For those scoring at home over his last 21 games played he is shooting 64.3%. I have a hard time ripping a wing player for losses when he shoots that well.Last edited by cougjunkie; 02-10-2014, 10:05 AM.*Banned*

Good for Rudy. He's playing the best basketball of his life, and his team is still 11-16 in games that he's played. He has a career .526 TS%. So far with the Kings he's near 60%. Wonder what happens to the Kings when Gay plays like he has the rest of his career.
But since he's shooting so well, it must mean Memphis and Toronto getting better after he was traded must just be "throwing out stats". Stats like Gay's career 0.81 WS/48, compared to say Hayward's 0.94.

When you shoot 64% from the floor over a 21 game stretch, you don't deserve much blame for your team not winning. Especially when you take the volume of shots Rudy does. It's not like he is taking 5 or 6 shots a game. Over that stretch he took 303 shots in 21 games (14.4 per game). That is a pretty impressive shooting percentage with a high volume like that coming from a wing player.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostGood for Rudy. Again if this were the Jazz and Hayward was shooting 64% you would screaming to pay him max money and that he should be an All-star. No matter the Jazz record.*Banned*

And if Hayward got traded away while making max money and the team posted one of the best records in the NBA after his trade, and then it happened again the very next year to a team that looked like a complete dumpster fire like Toronto did before trading Gay, I'd call for Hayward to get his proper due in Ewing Theory annals of history.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWhen you shoot 64% from the floor over a 21 game stretch, you don't deserve much blame for your team not winning. I don't think anyone is blaming Gay for the Kings' losing. The Kings' were loser before Gay got there. And Thomas and Cousins offensive #'s this year are All-Star levels for efficiency. The main point is that Gay hasn't much helped. I don't see much reason to dispute that based on what you've posted.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWhen you shoot 64% from the floor over a 21 game stretch, you don't deserve much blame for your team not winning. Just to be clear, my claims are and have been as follows:
1: Gay isn't worth big $ and any GM who pays him big money this off-season is not worthy of being an NBA GM.
2: Gay's last 2 teams have been substantially better after trading him for supposedly lesser players.
3: The Kings are bad. Much worse than they should be based on how good some of them are offensively. Cousins and Gay cannot be #1 players on a team.
4. I'm not a big Gay guy.

Not to mention that most Jazz fans are hoping the Jazz don't pay Hayward anywhere near Gay money. And most Jazz fans believe Hayward is somewhere between a good team's 2nd or 3rd best player, leaning towards 3rd best. And most Jazz fans hope the Jazz don't sign Rudy gay to a big FA offer sheet.
