Selena Robert's forthcoming book claims that A-Rod juiced in high school and that his coach knew about it.
Not only that, the book claims that reports of him juicing after he had become a Yankee, a time when he swears that he wasn't using.
Now if he was using in high school and he was still using as a Yankee or even a Ranger why wouldn't he have been using as a Mariner? Did he stop for a time once he hit the big leagues and then give it a go again in Texas?
I think A-Rod missed a big opportunity. He could have come totally clean about everything years ago when steroids started blowing up everywhere but they were only on their way to becoming illegal in the MLB rules. He could have fessed up when he held his "coming clean" newsconference after Roberts first exposed him. But now, this looks even worse. When he was given the chance to tell the whole truth and then only told a half truth and then claimed it to be a whole truth he put himself in a really bad spot for any new information coming out. Steroids may yet do to him what it did to Mark McGwire and that's too bad. He is obviously a very talented person but it's impossible to know how much steriods helped (or hurt) him.
