That said, the Delta Center is not good for hockey. I'm guessing Ryan Smith wants to build a new arena, but I really hope he doesn't want to put it out in the burbs (like the old prison site). I would LOVE to see a new arena at the Rocky Mountain Power site with a new MLB stadium. That seems to be the best option, IMO

It would be better for Utah to get an expansion team. The NHL has very favorable rules for the expansion draft for teams. Both the Kraken and Knights were able to quickly build good teams. The Knights were downright brilliant with how they built the team.

Saying the Delta Center is "not good for hockey" is an understatement. The site lines in at least half the arena are terrible. I'd be surprised if there are even 8K seats with decent sight lines.

Yeah, but SLC traffic is a bloody nightmare any way you slice it. Salt Lake valley is due for an upgrade for their ice facilities, though. Provo lucked out w the olympics and provided the now-defunct BYU Ice Cats with a great venue.

The NHL gave the Knights some really favorable rules for the expansion draft. However, the Knights masterfully maneuvered within those rules to build a legit team. Anyone who thinks it was just the favorable rules is wrong.

Also, the marketing of the team to locals was brilliant. I respect how they quickly created a strong fan base.

I like the team. Glad they won. Hope the A's can build something similar.

Also, enjoy the cup because soon Connor Bedard's shot will dominate all.

So last Tuesday on hockey night, there were a bunch of noobs with some kind of matching Coyotes corporate jersey- the 'growlers' or something. They all sucked, so it turns out they were Coyotes employees that were part of their little intramural company league. I tried to get some scoop, and one girl said there would be an announcement sometime soon. Fingers crossed for Salt River/Scottsdale.
