Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Die, die, die! BYU @ SMC

Emery is such a poor decision maker when he's pushing the ball. Just pass to someone open instead of taking the contested 24 footer.

That's exactly right. He's emotionally immature on the court and a poor decision maker. Not a good combination.

This BYU team has at least FOUR ESPN 100 or 50 players. Emery, Haws, Mika, and Dastrup, at least. That's probably more than Utah has ever gotten in its history. Either Lone Peak and BYU rig those ratings, or, Rose is a crappy coach, and what a waste.

There was only one team on the court tonight. That was like watching paint dry. It was awful.

And SMC is a very, very cohesive team this year, so the contrast made our shortcomings stand out. They deserve their top 25 ranking IMO.

What I wouldn't give to have St. Mary's discipline on offense. I don't see anything in Bryant. He has been absolutely terrible in the time he has gotten this year. Perhaps it is due to this lingering knee issue, but I am afraid it isn't that. I just don't see anything that he does well. Nick is a terrible decision maker and I am not going to be surprised if he hits another dude at some point due to his inability to check his emotions.

We were terrible on defense last night. So many freaking open threes and yet we just continue to plod out there and play the 1-3-1 and 2-3. Seriously something has to change with that as this isn't an anomaly this year. Why isn't Rose making it more of a focus for his teams? I like Rose a lot, but I am starting to wonder if the comparisons to Bronco aren't becoming more warranted. Sure we will always win 20-25 games, but never really do anything.

I am not trying to be chicken little, especially when it comes after a loss on the road to a top 20 team, but it just seems like we killed ourselves with the terrible shot selection on offense and virtually no defense whatsoever and Dave Rose teams seem to do this type of thing a lot regardless if we are playing a top 20 team on the road or freaking UVU at home.

I actually was encouraged by Bryant in that game. He was out of control at times, but he was pretty active and looked athletic. Rose went small and played him at the 4 for a spell. That might be a good look at times.

I like Rose. I generally think he's underrated. But I don't like his defensive concept. I hate the 1-3-1. The only time it looks good is when the other team goes cold from the three point line, because with any type of ball movement against it, it always gives up wide, wide open looks at three. Praying a D1 college opponent can't hit wide open three point shots isn't a valid defensive concept.

Yeah he played way better than I thought he would given that it was his first night back after a long layoff.

Mika's defense is also terrible. He can't continue to always let his man catch the ball on the block.

This team has a lot of decent pieces, but it is still a mess.

I have said this before but I deal with BYU athletics far better than I used to. I think I finally have realistic expectations. Sure this team has a lot of talent, but lack experience. If they ever find a way to play as a team, they could end up being really good, but those who have talked about a final four are in the expectations game I used to have.

Both FB and BB I just try to enjoy beating the average to above average teams with an occasional big smile on my face when we beat a really good team.
