Both my wife and I know and like Topper, but when I read to her Topper's observations followed by this comment after Tyler swished from the corner, even the straitlaced Mrs. PAC laughed and highfived me.

      • I thought our guys played well. Fun game.

I just like to win at least half of the close games. After losing that close one to Iowa State it was nice to have a little run at the end to get this win.

Rose, please tell our guys that nobody should ever throw the ball to Tucker Carlson unless he's WIDE OPEN under the basket. The dude should not be trying to post up and make moves to the basket during the last five minutes of a close game.

I'm not sure the Wide Open qualifier should be included.

Good point. Don't pass the ball to Tucker Carlson under any circumstance.

            • Luke is always good for some comedic relief during stressful moments. I always get a laugh when he posts up and calls for the ball down low. He clearly has position, he's waving his arm to signal that hes ready....meanwhile everyone is swinging the ball around the perimeter pretending not to see him and Rose is hoping that Carlino settles for a 30 footer rather than passing it to Luke to attempt a layup.

Im playing a mental game of Luke bingo this season, trying to see how many new ways Luke's layups can go awry.

So far this season, I've seen Luke's layups:
              1. Hit the bottom of the backboard
              2. Hit the side of the backboard
              3. Hit the back of the hoop at a 180 degree angle
              4. Hit nothing (very high degree of difficulty for a layup)
              5. Get swatted away

Oddly enough, im not sure I've seen any of his layups go through the hoop, although I could be mistaken because he did score one basket a few games ago.

Hoping to see a layup hit the top of the backboard and also hit the back side of the backboard. Lots of season left to go, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
              Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

              • Did I hear correctly when the analyst said that Ridley came back this year in a lot better shape? What the hell did he look like last year?

LOL. He's the collegiate Anthony Bennett. With the hands of Kwame Brown.

                    • That game was a lot of fun. Not to go :livecoug: on everyone, but our D is terrible. Texas made some unforced errors and went cold down the stretch for us to win that game. For how great Haws is awesome on offense, he's equally as bad down low as a zone defender and rebounder. I think the first adjustment should be to put him on top and Bartley underneath, if Austin or Mika is not in the game.

                      • Carlino tried to make Worthington wear Mika's backup glasses. He told him if he really was his friend he would. LOL.

I was right that BYU tends to lose these games. Wrubell tweeted out that BYU was 9-59 in games they trailed with less than 5 minutes to play. That's a disconcerting stat, but it's also why this win was big for this team. Though they didn't play great, they made plays when they had to. Amid all the Haws love, Carlino deserves some praise. He dropped some filthy dimes and his three point shot kept it close until Haws could get it going. I love Matty Basketball.

Outside of nailing those threes to lead off the game, the best thing Carlino did for the team last night was get out of the way when he started cooling down. Last year's Carlino would have forced up way more shots there after his shot stopped splashing through. Instead, for the most part, he was willing to give the ball up. It helps that we had KC there to take the ball down the floor. KC's presence takes so much pressure off of Carlino and makes him a much better player, imo.

It may be hyperbole, but Worthington has to be one of the worst college basketball players I've ever seen. He can't even stand still and take a charge. Shitty players are always good at taking charges. He had a couple plays last night where he had great position for charges, but couldn't stand there. A layup is at least twice as difficult as standing still. No wonder he can't make layups.
                            I'm like LeBron James.
