  • Can you imagine what this team would be like if we played the first half the way we play the second half?

That would be the game against Wisconsin

        • Credit to Dayton. They were shooting lights out.

          • Man, I gained some gray hairs in that game. Wow.

            • A little late, but here are my game notes:
              • AJ needs to stop being a baby and complaining about every supposed non-call. He wants the Lebron James NBA superstar status now. Get tough and let the game come to you.
              • The game was officiated really well. I liked the fewer calls than normal, on both teams, it allows the game flow better, and is much better to watch.
              • Most of Dayton's first half 3Ps were WIDE open. Let's practice not under cutting a hot 3P shooter 5 times in a row.
              • Both RWIII and AJ had trouble guarding Dayton's Bennett. The commentators suggesting sticking Davis Jr to him (even in a zone). I'm not sure what we really did in the 2nd half that was better.
              • At times we play like we don't know each other and it's the first time they've been on the court together. Not just missed shots, but real sloppy passes to each other. Part of this I think is because we have no set offense. So nobody really does know where they're teammates are suppose to be or suppose to be going. I am not saying we need to run motion 100% of the time, but a little more structure would go a long way, especially at the beginning of games where nobody knows what to do.
              Player of the Game Awards:
              • PER: Richie Saunders - Do we call him Second Half Richie at this point? Red hot in the 2nd half and got some boards, assists, and steals. Played 38 minutes too!
              • GSc: Also Saunders
              • TS%: Saunders. Just keep shooting!
              • Super Sub: None. We really need some bench scoring, or just some sort of contribution from them. Outside of Mboup and Diomande, I'm just not sure I see a lot of potential in many of them. But none of them stepped up this game.
              Struggled to Perform Awards:
              • PER: Khadim Mboup - Grabbed some rebounds, but no points and 3 TOs did not help his cause. I do see potential in him, but he hasn't been showing it the past two games.
              • GSc: Also Mboup
              • TS%: Davis Jr - He hit an early 1st half 3P, but struggled shooting the rest of the game. He made some tough shots against Miami, but when they aren't falling they look like ill advised shot attempts.
Up next is 6-0 Cal Baptist who is #138 in Kenpom. This is technically a neutral site game at the Delta arena. This would currently be a Q3 team.

              • Why in the hell do we keep playing these games in the Delta Center? Cal Baptist?

Yeah it's one thing if that's the only way we can get Duke or something. This really should be at the Marriot Center. Just another game that season ticket holders should get as part of their deal but will have to pay extra to attend.

Christmas Around the World takes over the Mariott Center every December for years. That's one reason why they started playing some games in Salt Lake. I don't remember any previous years it was someone of the level of Cal Baptist.

BYU guard Dawson Baker has suffered a complete ACL tear in addition to other major injuries, he announced Monday on social media.
According to the sixth-year senior, his MRI results showed “a complete torn ACL, torn lateral meniscus, mild PLC involvement, grade 2 MCL and LCL sprains, bone bruising, muscle/tendon strains and small impact fractures to top it all off.”
Yeah, that's super bad. That's gotta be close to 12 months recovery, doesn't it?

I went through one that was slightly worse, but the same stuff was affected. It will take him a year.
