BYU pushes their win streak to 8 and beats Utah at home by 11. Things started off a little rough and I think BYU missed their first 13 3FGAs. But, that means they hit 8/15 the rest of the way. Keita aside, FTs were good. The reffing was all over the place, but I guess it balanced out. Keita had some good dunks, Boskovic filled in nicely when Saunders got some early fouls, and unfortunately Hall shaved his stache.
Egor Demin gets the Player of the Game. I loved him being aggressive going to the basket and his 6 assits to just 1 TO was a nice change from recent games. But, why didn't Utah pressure him more? Do they not have good defensive guards? He had the best PER and Drtg. Keita had the best GSc and he's been a very vital player for us recently. Baker had the best TS% and ORtg and he provided the instant offense/scoring that I've been wanting from him all season.
Trevin Knell gets the Struggled to Perform award, unfortunately on Senior Night. He had the worst PER, GSc, TS%, and ORtg. I hope he can hit some vital 3FGs for us in the tournament games, cause I don't think he's going to be able to come back for an 8th season (joke). Hall had the worst DRtg and it's totally because he shaved his stache. Seriously, he should have kept that thing going during the entire win streak!
The season average PER has been updated for the two wins this week and Hall has replaced Knell in the top 5, which is now: Saunders / Keita / Demin / Traore / Hall.
BYU is now 23-8 (14-6) and will be the #4 seed in the B12 tournament. Kenpom has us at #24 and so did NET prior to today. Utah is #70 / 66. As a home game this is currently barely a Q2 win. It sure is nice having a bye until the quarterfinals! BYU will play Thursday morning.
