  • Do you think BYU ever makes it back to Elite 8?

    (poll coming)

Edit: damn, messed up, no poll coming, so just answer.

I think there's a 2% chance. Spare us the "they gotta win 1 game first" comments.

Ever? How long of a time horizon does "ever" cover?

    This year? No.
    Five years? No.
    Ten years? Maybe.
    Twenty-five years? Probably.
    Infinity? Yes.

There's a chance that I may be showing a bit of bias here, but I think they do it this year.

If not, of course they will do it sometime. During the millenium, going to BYU will be like going to Army was during WWII. They will go to the Elite 8 like 1000 straight times.

Because BYU abides by an honor code and aspires to higher standards, I consider them an elite 8 team every year.

The basketball team needs to start doing firesides. That would take them to the Final Four.

              Ever? Yes

In my lifetime? Probably not but I think they can at least make it to the sweet 16 with a lot of luck.

Read the very bottom of this article. Final Four, here we come!

You really think it will take a lot of luck to make it to the sweet 16 in your lifetime? I don't consider myself a starry-eyed optimist, but, unless you are over 80 years old, this seems a bit pessimistic to me. With a lot of luck, they will make it there this year.

That's not bias, that's aluminum foil on your head. Yes college basketball right now is predicated upon having a great PG but if Jimmer doesn't have a legit 4 or 5 on the court with him come tourney time it isn't going to matter. If he had Rafa to play alongside this team would possibly make it to the sweet 16 but as it stands I see it as one and done.

That's exactly what I said, well almost exactly. And yes, it will take a lot of luck. We are always seeded either 7,8,9, or 10 and end up (or would end up playing if we could win a game) a very decent 1 or 2 seed.

It will take a lot of luck to make it to the sweet 16. They haven't done it in my lifetime yet (or I guess they have but I wasn't really old enough to know) so I guess that just makes me pessimisstic.
