  • Trump is at odds with the party in general. Problem is, the GOP didn't shut him and his ilk down when they could have, so he's now the 500-lb gorilla houseguest who is overstaying his welcome and directly competing against the GOPs best interests. elephant in the room. Chickens coming home to roost. [insert other animal metaphors here].

This past week in Arizona we got to see what the “what’s the downside for humoring until he dies” strategy looks like in a live campaign setting.

Over the weekend, Mike Pence, Doug Ducey, Rusty Bowers, and the other Good Republicans™ were campaigning for gubernatorial candidate Karrin Taylor Robson in her upcoming primary against MAGA Drag Queen Kari Lake, who meanwhile was holding a Poconos-standup-act-meets-Confederate-monster-truck-rally with Trump across the state.

There was much scuttlebut in the political class about how this was the first step in the coming internecine Trump-Pence war. But the attacks seemed awfully one-sided.

At the Lake rally, Trump called Bowers a “RINO coward.” Lake said Biden was an “illegitimate president” and that “Trump won.” And Trump-endorsed Senate candidate Blake Masters said they were planning to “prosecute Fauci.”

Meanwhile in the Pence camp the #war was a little more muted. The former VP sent two tweets that had the political class buzzing but . . . well, see for yourself.

Some people! Bold! Who might he be talking about there? The person that sent the mob to kill him? Or the RINOs who are still obsessing over Ronald Reagan?

Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Listen I have a lot of respect for Hogan but my patience has worn thin for him.

He will say he can’t vote for the GOP candidate in MD for governor because he’s an election denying crazy but can’t commit to voting for a military veteran Rhodes Scholar because GOP leaders apparently have something wrong with their brains.

Trump is going to do what he thinks is best for him without regard for anyone else.

The Dems have promised they would have Drumpf locked up before then. I expect them to keep their word so DeSantis won't have any problems with his run in 2024 against Harris/Newsom.

The RNC is threatening to stop paying Trump's personal legal bills if he declares too early, apparently.

Will they follow through with that? Duh, of course not.

                Thanks Peter Thiel.

He’s backed some legit crazies: Masters, JD Vance and Joe Kent. Masters and Kent are essentially white nationalists and JD flirts with that movement through Gaetz and MTG.

The Democratic Party has to rethink its candidates in 2024. If it isn’t Pete it should be someone like Jon or my preference Steve Kerr.

The base would vote for Pete in a general but it would be really hard for him to make it out of a primary unless they changed the primary dates and started with California and New York.

Pete has a huge issue with black voters after his latent racism came to the surface. I’d vote for Pete over a number of GOP hopefuls but Pete won’t get the nom.

Jon Stewart won’t run. He’s too smart to want to be a politician and he’d likely be fairly ineffective given his lack of experience.
