Trump can't get away with something like this as of right now due to current laws and the Constitution, fortunately.

But the more interesting question is, would he want to?

I think it's pretty clear the answer to that is yes, based on his "enemy of the people" and "maybe we could yank broadcast licenses" and "change 'libel' laws" type garbage he's said before.
