  • Biden, Obama, and Bush could be as every bit as incompetent as Ted would have us believe, and yet they are more decent Americans than this piece of shit:

ngraham then asked Trump what he thought of President Biden's approach, in which Ingraham said Biden was 'monitoring the situation' and then would talk to fellow G7 leaders Thursday.

'I don't think he's monitoring, I think he is probably sleeping right now,' Trump retorted. 'This is a terrible thing that should never have happened. I really believe that it was Afghanistan, when he looked at that horrible, weak pullout.'

Trump added that he believes Putin sees this as 'the weakness and the incompetence and the stupidity of [the Biden] administration.'

'As an American I am angry and saddened,' he continued. 'It all happened because of a rigged election. That includes inflation and that includes millions of people pouring in on a monthly basis - far more than three million people - and they're coming from 129 different countries. They are destroying our country.'

No please Ted, show us another tweet by Jack Pobosiec(!) that shows us the real truth.

    • He also chastised Ingraham for revealing live on the air that US troops were going into Ukraine. She had to stop him mid sentence and say "No, these are Russian troops, sir." Then she repeated twice "that would be news" in a voice that revealed even she was thinking something along the lines of "good god, this man is a moron."

Hijacking the invasion of Ukraine to promote the Big Lie and further erode democracy. The absolute worst kind of human being.

Honestly, anyone blaming this on Biden is an idiot.

Was listening to someone on the radio today that used to live in Ukraine and he said that the people there will never submit to russian rule. They will burn the country to the ground before that happens.

Agreed. This is more on trump and Obama than it is on Biden. But I’d say it’s mostly on Putin being a tyrannical leader and Europe being absolutely complacent. I’m still dumbfounded that it took a full scale invasion for Germany to stop the certification of Nord Stream 2. Europe’s complacency is going to come back to bite them.

I agree with most others on here that I hope America doesn’t physically get involved anymore than lending some equipment and money but everything else should be sanctions (harsh sanctions) on Russia. I also hope this spurs some other nations to up and join NATO.

We had two tour guides during our brief visit to Odessa a few years ago who said the same thing (apart from each other). I've also tutored a Ukrainian immigrant who attended Moscow University; she likes Russia and Russians generally, but absolutely loathes Putin and his oligarchs, as well as the puppets they had previously installed in Ukraine. I think Russia is in for a long slog.

                • there can’t be a long term occupation, particularly with aggressive sanctions (barring russian banks from swift, foreign asset seizures, tariffs on key russian exports, etc) that will hamstring the oligarchy. there is just so much urban territory in non-contiguous areas that it can’t be sustainable even in the near term. putin has remained in power solely because of an unprecedented level of russian prosperity—if that changes and there’s domestic civil unrest along with brutal urban combat, there’s not a path to this being a rational decision. makes the lifting of sanctions all the more insane in retrospect.

Have there been any rumors on activating Reserves/NG?

Hundreds of arrests, but yeah. God bless them.

My understanding is that Germany, Italy, and Hungary will block any move to bar Russian banks from swift. And China today has lifted all import barriers to Russian goods. I think rusdia can sustain viability longer than we expect. Whether or not they can successfully occupy Ukraine for long is another story.

I'm genuinely sick over the unnecessary pain and suffering this has caused and will further cause. But the history undergrad in me is completely fascinated to see how this plays out.

Also, Germany shutting down their nuclear power plants to "go green" has really put the West in a no win situation and may have given Putin the ability to pull this off in the long run.

I’m not too young to remember:

The GOP lifting sanctions on the oligarchs

The GOP capitulating to Trumps team on anti Russia/pro Ukraine GOP posture during one of the conventions

The GOP claiming Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election not Russia

Trump removing troops from Syria (but but Afghanistan!!!) and after removing troops from Germany

Trump praising Putin non stop, equating American actions to his

Trump threatening removal of military aid unless Ukraine supplied him with dirt on Biden and temporarily suspending aid
