I don't think dnews publishes Walter Williams as much. I read an article of his in townhall of how life is not the same. Then talks of how schools are more dangerous and kids not as responsible parents don't care as much.
Snopes debunked the kids worse thing was chewing gum and talking now they bring guns. Thing is I don't think too many kids have seen guns in schools and most people can walk in safety though there are dangerous neighborhoods. YOu just hear about attacks. If it was battle you would not hear about it.
Also thing is people have been lamenting how worse it has been for centuries. Since Cain and Abel it has been good vs evil. If you looked at saying last century colonial times you will hear we are nobler than the younger generation it is bad. That is celebrated.
I agree with much of what Williams says, He still defends smokers rights and is sympathetic to the confederate cause. However his latest article I think is one of selective memory. Gerald Lund mentioned his noble neighborhood too in a book he wrote. I can't remember title than said that could be selective memory.
I think it's more of perspective. Also some peple home school because of how bad it is. In a conversation someone said that is why I live here. You hear that my ward is better, my town is better it's like family. Some of that I think your area and time growing up is more of perspective I think. I don't think we are automiticlly getting worse and previous generations were noble parents cared now ours don't.
