Oldest daughter bought 9 shares in AMC, which according to the redditors in the know will be the next one to go up. I told her that doesn't sound very socialist of her. But she's not in it for the money she assures me. She wants to bleed Wall Street. According to her 'you can't fight the system without participating in the system'.
Tell your socialist daughter that the fat cats on wall street appreciate her help in making them rich!
I had a discussion with a good friend of mine (staunch lifelong democrat). I told him about my liberal daughter and how she bought her own metal straws to do her part to "save the oceans" but she has no issue with daddy funding her college with money from big oil. He just said "we all sell out at some point" and I think he is right. SU is correct about capitalism and we all realize it at some point.
Yeah, at some point they figure out that solar panels and electric cars are damn expensive and volunteering for greenpeace doesn’t pay a lot.
I'm utterly confused by some of the stocks they placed on the restricted list. IPOE? That's the SPAC that's turning into SoFi. CLOV and OPEN were also recent SPACs started up by Chamath. Clover is some Medicare Advantage company and Opendoor is supposed to compete with Zillow. Chamath bought some call options that helped catalyze the Gamestop frenzy last week, so I wonder if this is designed to punish him. IPOE in particular is suspicious because SoFi directly competes with Robinhood as another trading broker/platform.
I don’t think she was storming the castle here. More out of curiosity to see what would happen really. But if she does her part to bring down the system she wouldn’t be sad. At some point when she’s done with training and has paid off her loans, she’s going to have to reconcile her problems with capitalism while being part of the problem.

No offense and I’m just spitballing, but if the hedge funds didn’t make significant corrections to their short positions after the past month then they deserve to get squeezed. So basically I doubt the squeeze happens to AMC like it did to GME. Now AMC may go up or be volatile but I don’t think buying 9 shares at an already inflated price is going to hurt wall street.

Yep. One day before the blowup NOBODY would tell you to buy it. There was about an 8 hour period where playing futures would get you a welder's salary for your trouble. Likely spurred on by the Gamestop debacle where nothing makes sense and everybody's contemplating the 'real value' of money.

Hopefully it ends better for her than it did for this guy...
Anybody else make a killing on $Dogecoin last week? I'm not so interested in the U.S. markets as I am in crypto. Bitcoin, among others, is going big and there is nothing you can do.

The good news is that Millennials have grown up and tasted the fruit of capitalism. Their innocence is forever lost. It always happens, as with the boomers, who actually were much more subversive and became the world's greatest capitalists ever.
Yes, they are all grown up now... I am so proud of them!
