Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

If he were an avowed white supremacist, how would he act any differently?

That tweet guy decided that context isn't important. I don't want to live next to four immigrant families renting one house either. That very thing happens right here in Lehi. For a time, my job took me out to the west side of the Salt Lake Valley, and those homes are plentiful and easy to spot. One house uses up every parking spot in their driveway, oftentimes a couple on the lawn, the curb out front, and in front of their neighbor's homes. The yards usually aren't well kept, and if you're lucky, one or two of the people there speak English. They drive their neighbors crazy.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post
I'm all in for legal immigration, but scenarios like JD is describing shouldn't happen.

I watched the clip. Yes, JD Vance is POS. Yes, he's talking about Haitian immigrants in Springfield again and in a horrible and racist way.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post
However, I felt like the "eating cats and dogs" bit, which was raised first by the host, was tongue in cheek a bit.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Also doesn't seem that strange to me. I know lots of Mormons who wish their Catholic or non-religious spouse or SO would convert. Fully agree. The scenarios that the hillbilly is describing are not exclusive to brown or black undocumented immigrants (the Haitians were here legally), yet that becomes the context for his rant and the singular lens through which he views it and invites others to view it. White American citizens do similar things that I would not want next door (derelict vehicles and bright red utility sheds or rainbow painted garage doors). Sounds like issues covered by an HOA (shutter) or local zoning and/or multifamily occupancy ordinances rather than a national level ICE intervention.Originally posted by Shaka View Post

There's a rental house around the corner. I'm not sure how many tenents they have. Seems like a construction company is renting it and there are about 7-8 vehicles parked in the vicinity of the house.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

It's far enough away that I haven't met any of them, and I can't say whether they are white or not.

When I was at the BYU we got this great idea to rent a large house up near the temple. Lots of room, single bedrooms, prestige location, fun, fun, fun. As we moved in the local EQ Pres showed up "to welcome us to the ward." We were notified of eviction within a week due to zoning/multifamily occupancy ordinances and out on the street in a month. Lived out of a van for couple of weeks until I found a room south of campus.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View Post

Every now and then a latino family has rented a home in our neighborhood. In most cases, after a few months there are 6-8 cars parked there and 3-4 families living in the house. Always makes me laugh. Would be less funny maybe if they were next door."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? I agree with this. It is a problem in my area just north of Houston where we have a lot of houses like this. We even have two members of our ward that live in these types of houses. The homes are owned by an individual who usually doesn't live there and rents out separate rooms. So the occupants share the kitchen and bathrooms but get their own rooms. In the cases I know with our ward members (both of whom are white citizens), the other tenets are foreign and likely illegally in the country. Most are latino but two tenets in one of the houses are from eastern Europe (can't remember the exact country but I can ask the member). The renters make more money this way. One of the homes would likely rent out for about $2,100 to a single family, but since it's a four bedroom house and the renter can charge at least $700 per room, they can make up to $2,800 by renting out individual rooms. People rent these places because there is no contract and no record of them staying there.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

The HOA in my neighborhood would not allow this to happen. But the HOAs in the neighborhoods around here are less strict and renters find a way to either hide it or get around the HOA."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

We have a multi-generational family renting 2 houses down from us that are caucasian. Some might classify them as white trash. Also multiple cars in various states of disrepair. The matriarch will come to church two or three times a year, around the time they need help paying the rent and utilitiesOriginally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostEvery now and then a latino family has rented a home in our neighborhood. Come to think of it, 3 out of the 4 houses along side ours are multigenerational white folks. Multigenerational meaning at least 3 generations. This is in a suburban, very middle class Davis County foothills neighborhood.
