Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

I think Biden's decision to exclude Elon Musk and Tesla from the White House EV summit was arguably one of the more shortsighted political moves of his administration. Such an incompetent, unnecessary and divisive move that set the stage for Musk's shift to the right.

Concerns about Musk being a national security threat aren't just rumblings from the left.
Retired Gen. Honore, who I first remember hearing about in Katrina is the latest to sound the alarm:
“The fact that Mr. Musk spent a quarter of a billion dollars to help re-elect Mr. Trump does not give the incoming White House the license to look the other way at the national security risks he may pose,” Honoré wrote in a New York Times op-ed.
“If Mr. Trump and his appointees mean what they say about getting tough on America’s adversaries, then they will act on this matter without delay,” he continued. “There is too much at stake to ignore what’s right in front of them.”
China is a major market for Musk’s Tesla, which owns a factory in Shanghai. Honoré noted that Chinese law requires companies doing business in the country to turn over information if requeste
This means Mr. Musk’s business dealings in China could require him to hand over sensitive classified information, learned either through his business interests or his proximity to President-elect Donald Trump,” the retired general wrote.
Honoré also voiced concerns about the tech mogul’s comments about China and related political issues. Musk previously praised China’s “economic prosperity” and suggested Taiwan become a “special administrative zone” of China — a comment that was received well by leaders in Beijing. ...
These contracts have come under scrutiny since The Wall Street Journal reported in October that Musk had been in regular contact with Putin since late 2022. The report prompted two Democratic senators to ask for a federal investigation into Musk’s involvement in SpaceX’s contracts.
“If the federal investigations demonstrate deep connections to China and Russia, the federal government should consider revoking Mr. Musk’s security clearance,” Honoré added. “It should already be thinking about using alternatives to SpaceX’s launch services.”

I don't care for The Hill. But the original article is paywalled.

Sure, his overt move to the right and support for Trump have been recent. But the dude was weird a long time before Biden. He's been this generation's Saturday's Warrior, what with his singlehandedly fighting zero population and all.
He didn't just swing right either, he went all in on the altright. He breathed life back into Tucker Carlson, he should've been left discarded as a rightfully disgraced journalist, and amplified his messaging and at time when he has been doing Moscow's duty.
Lately he has been saving Alex Jones having to deal with the consequences of his own actions (seriously all that wealth and he spends I helping Trump and Alex Jones?).
That may have been a a poor move to not invite Musk to that conference or maybe something else went into that wasn't known. Maybe Musk was going to use it as political posturing.
Regardless, I don't think it was a pivotal moment in Musk's story. It is worth acknowledging that the incredibly wealthy and powerful are often the biggest snowflakes (that's because I think they are more immune than most of us from the fall out of their actions and tantrums).
Musk is now as partisan a figure as we have in this country and it's by his choice. He needs to be regarded as one. He no longer gets to be viewed as just a titan of industry and that is not the fault of liberals or even MAGA, it's how Musk wants it.

Musk continues to back Germany's far right party, and so does Vance. Of course that party is pro Kremlin and anti NATO.
It's not helpful for them to weigh in on foreign elections in the first place. Let alone fascist-adjacent parties.
These aren't normal political figures doing normal political things.
