If Biden stays in the race, so much attention will be paid to his mental gaffes and his age problems that Trump won’t even have to campaign. He can just sit back and watch Biden self-destruct and avoid the scrutiny he would otherwise get on his own lunacy and lies. It is such a godsend to the Trump campaign.

Listen, I can't stand Biden, but he clearly said "and intellectual rigor" there. Come on.

            • Podsaveamerica is going scorched earth on Biden. They spent a decent amount of time mocking his interview with Stephanopolous. I’m guessing more people listen to that podcast than listened to the interview.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. Good for them. I was wondering how they would respond. I need to give it a listen.

It is a brutal double whammy. We get the damage to our institutions provided by the Democrat Party and the MSM colluding to keep trusting Americans uninformed about President Biden's mental capacity because they had themselves convinced Donald Trump was such a threat that their undemocratic means were justified to avoid the end state of another President Trump term. Then here we are-we will get another President Trump term.

I figure folks were making the best of a bad sitiuation, but did they really believe they could keep folks unaware about Biden throughout an entire Presidential Election campaign?

In the end all of our crazy right wing LDS rural family members have had their crazy MSM/Democratic Party conspiracy verified.

It didn't even sound a bit like wigger. There are so many legitimate gaffes to make fun of, making up things just seems lazy.

"intellectual rigor" is not near as funny.

I mean you have read the headlines of the NYT (including the opinion pages urging Biden to drop out) and the WaPo the last week, right?

Is there any evidence that the lamestream media actively knew that Biden was this compromised, and held their fire until the debate forced their hand? Because that would be quite the conspiracy.

The op-ed pieces by the NYT and WaPo are a desperate attempt to compensate for their failure to fully investigate this in the first place. This is an all-time journalistic lapse for which they should be held accountable. For heaven's sake, in the weeks leading up to the debate these same people were excoriating conservative outlets for calling attention to Biden's increasingly erratic behavior. Look at this article from the NYT as recently as June 21:

                              https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/21/u...ge-videos.html

President Biden has many adversaries in this year’s election. There are his Republican opponent, former President Donald J. Trump, and the independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

And then there is the distorted, online version of himself, a product of often misleading videos that play into and reinforce voters’ longstanding concerns about his age and abilities.

In the last two weeks, conservative news outlets, the Republican National Committee and the Trump team have circulated videos of Mr. Biden that lacked important context and twisted mundane moments to paint him in an unflattering light.
Now check out how shamelessly they are backpedaling:

                              https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/02/u...en-lapses.html

Biden’s Lapses Are Said to Be Increasingly Common and Worrisome

People who have spent time with President Biden over the last few months or so said the lapses appear to have grown more frequent, more pronounced and, after Thursday’s debate, more worrisome.
The article highlights the very same things that conservative outlets were reporting, while they were being scolded by the NYT, CNN, MSNBS, WaPo, etc.

As I have said before, at least the WSJ published a big article a few weeks ago using anonymous WH sources saying he is in terrible shape.

                              https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/...-2024-8ee15246

This article is based on interviews with more than 45 people over several months. The interviews were with Republicans and Democrats who either participated in meetings with Biden or were briefed on them contemporaneously, including administration officials and other Democrats who found no fault in the president’s handling of the meetings. Most of those who said Biden performed poorly were Republicans, but some Democrats said that he showed his age in several of the exchanges.

Yes, they should have been further out in front of this. They tip their biased hand a bit by not.

However, I think in Biden's case it's a matter of reality imitating fiction. There have been plenty of clips taken out of context, as they point out, which paint him in an unflattering light. It's been going on for over four years now. It's a little like the boy who cried wolf. There were so many cases where Biden's behavior was acceptable in context that when they finally weren't people had stopped paying attention.
