We get what we deserve as Americans when it comes to spending because everyone who pretends to care about debt only performs until stuff they want is on the chopping block. Solving our structural debt problem that will doom the republic way before anything either party is fretting about right now would require a grand bargain that neither major party is capable of striking. I will say that in the national parties, Republicans pretend to care about debt and Democrats pretend that debt doesn't matter. Both are equally dangerous and disgusting.Comment

Perhaps baseline inflation above 5% and consistently high interest rates will wake some people up enough to recognize the problem. It's amazing how many people around me keep saying they are waiting out the high interests rates and then they will buy a home.
