    I am trusting in the faith my wife has in a Higher Power since my own faith is pretty nebulous at this point. She is confident which makes me more confident. Much moreso than I was when she first proposed the idea.

    Understood, although again, you aren't really trusting your wife in this instance. You are trusting the Higher Power. Maybe I am misunderstanding your intent when you say that you are trusting your wife as it pertains to this surgery.

    I'm curious, you say they are miserable but there is nothing you can do for them. That would seem to indicate pain/discomfort/nausea and not a post-op infection otherwise treatable thru antibiotics, right? So what are the complications?

    It is far from third world. It is a developing nation with some very upscale components bound together with some lesser regions. It has potable water, Intel assembly plants, first rate medicine and an educated populace. It is not like unto many other Latin American communities.
    I know a couple of guys that go to Cost Rica every couple of years. They say the beaches are great and the prostitutes are cheap, plentiful and very accommodating.
