    nice random use of profanity.

You think you are a rebel, but nobody here is buying your act.

Sure, it would work from the wrist. The cadence thing is wireless. It monitors both crank rotations and wheel rotations at the same time.

This is the quick release kit:

    http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-010-108...7S875PP7DENFAW

It includes a velcro wrist band so that you can go from wrist to bike in seconds. While mounted on bike, you can push the buttons while keeping one hand free to steer.

    And this is the sensor:

RTFD, man. (notice the cool guy use of implied swearing)

Looks quite a bit smaller to me:

    http://www.amazon.com/GARMIN-Forerun...3447650&sr=8-1

Given that fact and the poor reviews, it certainly didn't seem worth an additional $200.

I also like how I can detach the main part of the 305 and mount it on a handlebar clip. I don't think you can do that with the 405.

I'll have to read how to configure my display. I'm kind of embarrassed that I didn't know you could do that.

Yes I have that attachment and it works well. It allows me to keep track of speed/distance on my trainer in addition to cadence and heartrate.

I love my 305. I take it with me both running and mountain biking. I can't think of a reason to get a computer for my bike, as all I really care about is speed and distance, and in southern Utah, there's not a lot of tree interference with the signal. Even in northern Utah, it hasn't been a problem. I guess road bikers might care more about cadence, but I think there's even an attachment for that.

Yeah, it's the new version so it is still pricey. But the 3D views and the lane assist stuff looks very cool. Being a geek, I am drawn to gadgets like this like a moth to a flame.

Overall it seems like the Garmin units have the best reviews. There are probably quite a few units that would make her happy. My wife has enjoyed our 760. She mocked me when I bought it but she quickly learned to like it.

OK, so for my wife, I want to get her one with bluetooth phone capability, but I am wondering about paying extra for traffic features. You say the MSN one is free. Any reviews on the accuracy?

Traffic in LA is an odd beast. I have yet to hear of any reliable devices to really help navigate traffic in SoCal.

I wonder why SigAlert.com has not partnered with one of these nav companies yet? Sigalert rocks for realtime southland traffic updates.

The MSN traffic feature is free for life. I has little pop-up ads.
